Inside College Hockey in a poll of scouts and recruiters from across the nation determines that the number one recruiting class for the upcoming season is in............MICHIGAN!

As for the "non blue chippas", well if you can all line up together and say after me......"WE'RE NUMBER 6!.....WE'RE NUMBER 6!" :) :D:cool:

Lost one of the top goaltenders in the class to an eligibility issue (Mike Brodeur), but they still got the best player (Ryan Suter).

Michigan lost Matt Nickerson at about the same time. I won't get a lot of agreement here, but I think that Nickerson would have had a much greater impact than Brodeur.

Based on their play with the NTDP, T.J. Hensick was clearly superior to Suter last season. Matt Hunwick was every bit as effective on the NTDP defence as well.

Your right, you won't get any agreement in here and I really doubt you would in the "Michigan Next Year" Thread.

Lets see, you come on here thumping your chest about a worthless ranking which your team is rated #1. One post later you state T.J. Hensick is clearly SUPERIOR to Ryan Suter, yet YOUR ranking source states Ryan Suter is the best player. Who should I believe...you or the meaningless rankings.

Maybe they thought Suter would be the best freshman because he is a year older than Hensick and comes to a much weaker team where he would likely get a lot of playing time.

As a side note my vicious little rodent friends, Toronto St. Mike's used their 3rd major midget pick on Andrew Cogliano who they knew was committed to Michigan. They used their 10th pick on a guy named Jack Skille who they knew was committed to Wisconsin. I guess we know who they think is the better forward. :p

Suters a year older than Hensick??...?....?....Oh, that's why. Thanks HH.

...O.K., 11 months older, whatever. But Suter is a lot more likely to play a major role with the Badgers than Hensick is with the Wolverines as freshmen.

None of which changes the fact that Hensick was the go to guy with the U18 team last season when he and Suter were teammates there.

How likely is it that a defenseman would be more of a "go to guy" than a forward?

Maybe Skille was picked later because the major junior teams understand how highly unlikely it is that a player change his mind from going to such a fantastic school and hockey program. With a Michigan recruit, it will be easier to get the kid to turn his back on college hockey. ;)

Poor Hobbie, are you still upset about Robbie Earl? Trying to make yourself feel better by convincing yourself your recruits are better that Wisconsin's? Whatever. I doubt Suter or Hensick are worrying about who's better, so why should we. Hail to the arrogant victors. See you Thanksgiving weekend, that's when it matters.

I once heard a man say, and it's very true, that it doesn't matter how crowded the playing field is because there is always room for the best. Ryan Suter would be logging a ton of ice time whether he was going to play for Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, BC, or the NHL's Nashville Predators. You're really reaching here, Hobart, by even comparing the two players considering they play different positions. But judging from the history of your posts this should come as a surprise to no one.

If Hensick is really as good as you make him out to be he will definitely be playing as big a role with Michigan as Suter will be with Wisconsin (refer to the first sentence of my post for the reason).

As I see they still have Leavitt on the roster.

Here's an updated roster that's still missing some walk-ons. Elliott (#1) and Dowell (#6) have just recently been added to this particular roster:

HH = Tool. Simple as that.

Suter is clearly the better player than Hunwick. No question about it. As for the Hensick v. Suter argument...how stupid is it to compare "go to" status of a D and an F?

As for recruiting rankings...well, depends on who you subscribe to. Red Line Report has UW's class #1. Another quality argument brought to you by the intellectually challenged HH.

As for Skille...this kid is probably (along with Kessel) one of the NTDP's top player and may be a future first round NHL pick. I'll take Skille over Cogliano anywho. With all the Michigan "defections", maybe St. Mikes figured they'd have a reasonable chance of getting the kid to renig on his comittment. :D

I'll take UW's incoming group with anyone in the country. Period. I think next year's class will also shape up to be one of the country's best as well...but its VERY early.

Matt Auffrey was the outstanding player on the ice at the Cube in Ann Arbor, MI. US Under-18 Team scrimmaged the Plymouth Whalers, and Auffrey had two goals and one assist. Had a nice goal where he went around the net, back to the blue line, turned and ripped a shot over the goalie's glove.

Dustin's brother Kyle Kuk is off to a good start in the USHL with a goal and an assistant in the Buc Bowl for Tri City. Kyle is a defenseman.

Hate to say it Joe, but Red Line Reports class rankings were a complete joke, as they had Northeastern's class listed and not BC's and some other clearly better schools.

They also said that Brian Boyle was "falling" in regards to draft status due to a poor Sr year. He only went on to be picked as USHR Prep POTY and was a 1st round NHL draft pick.

UW has a very strong class, but the loss of the Goalie probably drops them a notch.

As for Hensick vs Suter, they're both stars, but I'd go with an impact scorer vs a strong D-Man.

Good to see hockey is finally back!!!

A nice start for Jack Skille and Nathan Lawrence as the U-17's won their opener. Skille had a goal and an assist and Lawrence was the games first star.

http://www.usahockey.com/usa_hockey/ntdp/home_ntdp/090602soo/

It'll be interesting to see how much Lawrence's stock goes up this season after a great showing in the selects and now a solid start with the NTDP.

Any Gopher fans care to share their opinion on Jeff Frazee? He had a good night last night with 40 saves. Everything I've read about him suggests that he could be one of the best goaltending prospects to come out of MN in quite some time. Is he considered a MN lock like so many other in-staters, anyone know? I'm sure the Badgers would have some interest in seeing him replace Bruckler in '05. Hopefully the Wisconsin contingent can push him in the "right direction". Them and Nate Hagemo, who I believe was a teammate of his on the Holy Angels team that won the state title a couple years ago.
