First off, Gorowsky is a fine recruit - particularly after a year of seasoning in the juniors with some adjustment coming from the HS game. Second of all, every player on Centennial has inflated stats. True, they are arguably the best team in the state and have knocked off many highly ranked teams. Those wins are mainly non-conference. But, their conference is a joke - hence, their stats are indeed inflated relative to other top teams. Put another way, Centennial's cupcakes are much bigger cupcakes than most. And they know it - that's why their nonconference schedule is loaded with far more talented teams. I believe they change conferences next year - no more 20-0 games vs. Rogers. Good catch as a recruit, but Hammy's right.

I am not sold on Gorowsky, Ford, or Pavelski, just walzing into Madison and putting everyone else on the bench. I suspect there will be some struggles for these kids coming in an adapting to a higher level of play. For every Carlson there is a Brandt or Eichelberger. I have been really impressed with Burish this season and find it hard to imagine him not being in the lineup every night. One thing to remember with the current freshman/sophs is they HAD to come in and play major minutes to have a sucessful team because the cupboard was left pretty bare. As Eaves continues to add subsequent classes, I think there will be a more gradual process of becoming a major part of the team. The one variable that we may all be taking for granted this season, because knock on wood we've been pretty lucky with, is injury. While we've had a few here or there, we have really been lucky. We have a couple that are a lengthy, all of a sudden we'll be happy to have the depth.

I even said the kid has talent. Are you PMSing and jumping at any little thing or what?
My comment on stats was more aimed at somebody remarking on RJ Anderson's (the defenseman) stats than anything. Feel free to interpret that in regards to other players all you want.

I see you come from the school of "do as I say but not as I do" cause it is pretty clear you need to take your own advice.

Here's the Cap Times article on Gorowsky. His other 2 finalists were North Dakota and Yale.

Random stuff:
Tom Gorowsky's brother is currently a UW student.
Someone mentioned Matt Ford amongst future UW centers. It turns out this is his first year of playing center. He's been a winger up until playing for Sioux Falls so he could really play anywhere.
Did anyone really expect Hammy to say anything positive about Gorowsky?:-))
I don't care what Centennials strength of schedule is. I'm sure Eaves didn't recruit him just because he led the state in scoring. He probably wants him because he's a good player...nothing more.
TG had 33-33-66 as a junior at Centennial, FWIW. Those numbers were likely inflated, too!:-))
Anyone know anything about Gorowsky's leg injury that he suffered last weekend? Will he be back for the tournament? I believe their next game is the 28th..hopefully he can get back in the lineup.
A good MN state tourney preview:

Eric,
Just read that preview you linked to see if I was being unfair.
The Cougars have some gaudy offense stats due to their play in a relatively weak North Suburban Conference
Funny.... where I have seen that written before. :p ;)

Gorowsky sufferred some sort of leg strain or sprain. The plan is for him to take it easy and not play the first game in sections but come back after that. Once the season is done he is going to get a hernia fixed that has been nagging him this year.

Cerps-
Thanks for the info, glad to hear he's not done for the season. Hopefully he'll be near 100% by the time the tougher competition rolls around. Please keep us posted.
Hammy-
Never said you weren't being honest..just that your response seemed rather predictable given your love for anything Badger-related!:-))
"Meet the Parents": Jordan Pearce is from Anchorage, Alaska. The Badgers conveniently travel to Anchorage, Alaska this weekend to play UAA. Hmmm...
Off to bouncyball...

The atricle says he's probably be on one of the top 3 lines, maybe the pita boys can beat him out, but then they have to beat out Skille too. I'm expecting Ford, Pavalski and Auffrey to have the same impact this year's frosh have been having. I want tons of goals!!! As I get older I can't handle these tight games as well as I used to.
As far as the pita line goes this year, I'd like a good goal scorer to be on that line to finish the havoc they create, but I don't want the top 2 lines broken up, so I guess they have to stay together. I think they are more of a 4th line than a 3rd line for most top teams.

Article in the WSJ today about recruiting. Eaves says he isnt done for 04-05. He wants one more lefty Dman. Also, he apparently has a back up plan for Suter and Bruckler. Could we have nabbed Pearce and Eaves and Pearce are ready for fast tracking if Bruckler decides to bid us adieu?? We knew that he was always ready for the back up if we lose Suter, but I guess he is all set or at least prepared for the new potential problem.

The hockey article in the paper today quotes Eaves as saying he still wants another lefty d-man for next year. He's also on the lookout for a goalie and still another d-man if Bruckler and Suter depart for the pros. Maybe he's being cautious, but Eaves thinks it's only an even proposition that either will be back.
Regarding the goalie situation, I'd love for the Badgers to get a commitment from Pearce for '05-'06. Then you'd only have to use a partial for a backup to Elliott next season.
Remember a few weeks back when someone on this thread was concerned about the lack of progress in getting commitments? Clearly that was just the calm before the storm.
I wonder if some people still think Eaves can only recruit from the Developmental Program?

You beat me to the punch, Con.
Fast tracking Pearce would be awesome if Bruckler were to leave early.
No --- not concerned anymore. Give Eaves a week without practice and look what he does. Seems to be on the right track!

Also mentioned in the afforementioned article was that Gorowsky was still looking at USHL teams for next season so he must not be on Waterloo's affiliate list. I believe it mentioned Sioux City as a leading candidate.
Anyone manage to dig up a picture of Gorowsky yet? Please post it if you find one..we have to make sure each recruit passes "The JEN test"!:-))

I'm not sure if this is the mystery lefty-defenseman or not but Joe Piskula (teammate of Drewiske at Des Moines) is scheduled to visit at the beginning of next week from what a WI HS observer told me a few weeks ago. He'd be a walk-on.

Jo Pa picked up two assists in the epic showdown vs new Badger recruit Drewiske (who went scoreless). Jo Pa was +1 while Drewiske was -1.

Matt Ford had a goal and an assist, Jo Pa had a goal, Kyle Kuby had a helper, and while Drewiske did not get on the score sheet, he did go +4!!

Send a prayer or two Matt Ford's way..his team's lost 16 straight games!:-))
FWIW, Sioux Falls has 117 goals this year (lowest in the USHL) and Matt Ford has 50 points (23-27). He and Michigan State-bound Jim McKenzie ARE the offense for that team.
Wisconsin Hockey: Sioux Falls and falls and continues to fall!

Jo Pa had a goal & assist +3, Matt Ford had 2 goals +2, Drewiske had 2 assists +2. Kyle Kuby & Green Bay got shut out.

Centennial won 9-2 the other night even with Gorowsky sitting out with his leg injury. Hopefully he can get back in the lineup this Wednesday when they face Roseville.
Mr. Hockey will be awarded March 14th, btw.
18 straight losses now for Sioux Falls!!! If Matt Ford can be the 5th highest scorer in the USHL, as he is now, while playing for a team like that, he'll be a nice addition to the Badgers next season.
Wisconsin Hockey: Win A game!
