If he's an O4, then move BC right up to the front of the list, as they have two scholarships up front that they haven't been able to give away, and are desperate for a forward (and they and Minn were supposed to be the two finalists for him).
How do you figure BC has two scholarships left for Forwards? I believe Ben Eaves and Voce are the only two sholarship Forwards they lose and they already filled one of those slots with the highly regarded Matt Greene from BC High. Rememebr, when BC is healthy this year they have been forced to sit some decent players in Rooney, Pineault and Boyle, so it isn't like they are going to be hurting for bodies up front next season.

BC fanned on two forwards they wanted, Chris Mueller of Nichols and Scott McCullough of the Alberta league. They also have Hennes' scholarship.

Hennes was a recruited walk-on - not sure if he's getting a partial at this point. If he is, it looks like some of his money was used to get Perry and Brennan, both of whom are getting full boats. I believe Peterson was only a partial while Forrest is obviously getting a full boat.
In either case, my point is that BC looks to be pretty well stacked at the Forward position next year, unless of course we lose some kids early.

In some ways you hate seeing Wisconsin kids play elsewhere, but in others, it's good to see that the level of play seems to be improving as more kids get full rides. I don't know that Wisconsin had really any room to offer much, or if there was interest, but hopefully he does well.
Mitch has some "grade" issues in high school. I'm sure UMD's requirements aren't as high as UW's.;)
Quite a few years ago, we couldn't get Joe Fredrick into the UW, so he went to NMU. Every game he played against UW, he was a factor.

Can any body tell me what type of player Kerns is?

Josh Engel (defenseman) continues his hot offensive streak, with his 3rd goal in the last 4 games last night. Kyle Klubertanz also scored for the Gamblers Friday...
Our D is outscoring our forwards as of late up here...

Random stuff:
BC recruiting misses: Add Matt Auffrey's name to the list. Auffrey selected Wisconsin over Michigan and BC. After having our hearts ripped out by BC for the Eaves boys, the Badgers have done fairly well against the Eagles the last two years by winning battles for Joudrey, Likens, Suter and Auffrey. Something tells me BC will be just fine, though!:-))
Kerns: I haven't seen him play but I know sagissor has and could probably be a bit more helpful. I, too, heard that grades were an issue with him, FWIW.

Osiecki on Klubertanz: Oz compares Kluby to Sean Hill!!!!!

Lefty walk-on?: Joe Piskula, a teammate of Davis Drewiske at Des Moines will make an official visit to the UW in a couple weeks.
Shooters: Klubertanz (126) and Drewiske (108) are currently #1 and #4 in SOG amongst USHL defensemen.

There is a rumor going around on the Wisconsinprephockey website that Matt Tyree, a forward, will play for the badgers next season. He is a native of Wisconsin and is putting up some nice numbers somewhere in the NAHL. I'll research him more another day for you guys, unless someone else wants to first. Walkon I suppose...
Kerns is simply an electrifying player. He is a complete talent. Excellent speed, tremendous hands, a shooters touch, sees the ice real well, is extremely physical despite being a bit undersized, and never gets tired. Just a complete hockey player. I know for a fact Eaves liked him, but the grades thing is true. He really does not do real well in the classroom, but he is LD. Mitch is a fantastic kid though. He made the Gamblers but needed to get into a private school that he was unable to get into (parent's needed him to to feel safe about him getting the help he needs in school). Anyway, Mitch will be a first or second line player at UMD, no doubt. He just is a rare talent. Expect him to light up the USHL somewhere next year, probably in Green Bay. Just wait until he is playing with guys that have some of the talent he does...

You never get all the kids you're interested in because if you did you wouldn't have enough scholarships for them. In other words, for every scholarship slot you have available, you may show interest in 3 or 4 kids, so no matter how successful you are, there will always be kids that you were looking at that you didn't land. Contrary to what the other poster was saying, BC has already lined up 3 very good forwards and 3 very good defensemen for the next two years, as well as a dynamite goalie. We also have a few pretty decent walk-on types signed up. My guess is that BC has just one more full ride available for next year and that they are holding off hoping to land either Bertram or some other Canadian.

Hybs - I did not make it to the GMC. Did you get down there? Keeping in mind these kids are young, how did Garrett Suter look and maybe anyone else from the Caps or other teams that stood out? Thanks

I didn't go..too much goin' on! Last year, I got sucked into the Crosby/Kessel hype and wanted to go check that game out specifically.
I see the final today is TI against Shattuck.
hockeyscouting recently mentioned a handful of kids that have committed to the NTDP for next season. Blake Geoffrion (Culver) and Billy Sweatt (TI-bro plays at CC) were both at the GMC in addition to Carter Camper and Kyle Lawson from Honeybaked. Those are names that I've heard of anyway. Probably not a bad weekend for the staff to have off with so many good prospects right in their backyard.

Small article in the paper today about his situation. Bemidji offered a full 4 years with his matriculating in the fall of 2005. However, his family misjudged the UW's interest. With the UW in need of a lefty d-man next year, they have asked for and received permission from Bemidji to talk to Drewiske. The article states that they'll be in town on Thursday to talk $$.
The big question is how much at UW is worth 4 years at Bemidji? I'd like to think Eaves can get it done with a half ride, but this is shaping up like a game of poker.

Drewiske
My question is if he's only good enough to get a ride at Bemiji, how good is he really? Does he have 80% of the little puke Hagamo's talent/potential, 60%, or what? So far, though, we have no reason to doubt Eave's eye for talent.

While a full ride to any school is great, how much does being an in state kid paying in state tuition really cost? (Please don't answer that as I have a 1 & 5 year old and would prefer to be ignorant about such things) If Eaves can work some mojo, and convince him to come on board for a half scholie, I would think the bill to the family would not be that enourmous. I would guess the preference from a hockey stand point would have to be playing at UW. Hopefully, we can impress with 3 points or a sweep this weekend, and fill a pretty big hole. Hopefully we can also get a commit from Engel on a partial as if Suter goes, we will have some serious depth issues. Can any of our forwards play D? Have any played D at other levels?

Considering Suter's probably the only fullride Wisconsin kid on the roster, I'd be disappointed if Drewiske got anymore than a .5 scholarship. That seems to be the going rate and would be more than fair for a 5th-7th defenseman.
This article's about a year old but gives a lot of great background info on him including his well-publicized neck injury, the fact that he's a great all-around athlete and a great student.

Do they give half to Drewiske, get Piskula to walk-on and then add some offense (Bertram..seems like a longshot, Spirko, Kilpatrick..a year early) with the last full they reportedly have? I wonder if Engel's the insurance policy for Suter?!
Wisconsin Hockey: Hmmm...

Is Drewiske worth a scholarship? I bet Serratore has to be ****ed that Drewiske is thinking about decommiting granted it is a verbal.

I really don't have a problem with giving him a full at this pont. IF he is looked at as a guy who will crack our top six, why not? IU'm all about "value" in recruiting, but if he is going to be one of the twenty guys dressed night in and night out, it would be a mistake to low ball him. Just my opinion. If you have twenty some scholarships and he is going to be one of your twenty that dresses, that equates to deserving a full in my book.

Of course he's pie-r-squared, but that's what happens when you are at the bottom of the food chain at schools like BSU, SCSU, MSU-Mankato, UMD, Michigan Tech, etc. Those schools have to take a chance early on a player, and it sucks for them when the big three, Wisconsin, UND and Minnesota jump in late and ask them to walk on as an insurance policy.

...as it could come in handy in the next two classes as we will be very limited each of the next 2 years. If we can offer a partial and have a little in the back pocket, it may come in handy for a super who will not come on a partial. Motherwell, Spirko, Bertram, & Bradford will never come on a partial. We'll need every bit of Bucklers scholie to get a top flight goalie like Pearce to come as well. Does anyone know what we have invested in Tally? I really hoped he would have a breakout year, but it sure don't look like that is happeninng at this point. Whatever we have invested in him and Gibson do not seem to be very good investments at this point. With Sag's logic of paying a player who is playing everynight (which I agree is fair), these guys are a problem because we are paying them and they are not playing. We also may have to come up with some money for some of the walkons as they develope. If I'm Sawatske or Olinger and step into the regular lineup every game next year, I'm not happy paying my own way. Depending on what happens with Suter, one or both of these guys will have to play every game w/o Boesser, Krall, & Woz. Hey Hybs, do you think Jo Pa got a full ride?? I know you indicated the thought that only Suter was on a full ride of the Wisconsin natives, did you forget JoPa, not include him because he's incoming, or did Eaves really get him in on less than a full ride?

Mark-
I meant of the current Wisconsin kids on the roster, I believe Suter is the only fullride. I'm not positive but you'd have to assume that JoePa, Kluby and Auffrey are all fullride guys.
Also, you can't tell me that Ross Carlson won't get some decent money down the line...a point/game player as a walk-on frosh???
Wisconsin Hockey: Quit trying to figure this out..it's useless!:-))
