Colgate does not offer scholarships...yet. They are coming, though. It will be a sad, sad day in the history of this otherwise noble institution.
And there is a rule against scholarships in the Patriot League, at least for football.

One week to go.

only a week to go...a vote for 65-1 would coincide nicely with a Clarkson second half run.

For a variety of factors, my son picked RPI over MIT, and didn't apply to CalTech.
MIT has hockey, if you could call it that at the D-3 level. I would rather watch curling on CBC than D-3 Hockey...Thanks for nothing McCardell.
I heard from an SLU trustee that the SLU president believes we are about 30 votes short of winning this fight. As I said elsewhere, I think he is being optimistic. I thing this battle was lost a long time ago when McCardell decided what is best for all of us.

...just or the record...MIT men's ice hockey is a good CLUB tram...the women are D3( Tufts is just the reverse). So mlet's not denigrate D3 sports as D1 Holy Cross lost to Williams in basketball and was shown up by Middlebury in Montreal tourney last week. BTW..imagine the uproar if McCardell had referred to basketball players in a similiar derogatory phrase he used for all and even his own hockey players...as "puck slappers". Perhaps Ms. Jackson of RPI could influence her 5 corporate boards to spread a little corporate money-giving around....to find the missing 30 votes. kash

Kash, go away. MIT, at least, until recently, competed in Men's D-3 ice hockey. I know this for a fact as my brother went there.
No one is surprised by Middlebury's success. They have a lot of money and they spend money on their athletics and that is what the real issue is of the entire D-3 reform act. Mentioning Middlebury's success just proves how hypocritical McCardell and his band of tradition killing dictators really are.
You were annoying months ago with your inability to band together coherent thoughts with proper punctuation. Your incessant whining about RPI's President is a joke and I don't really doubt at this point in time that she has bigger ***** than you or John McCardell.

I'm researching earlier years, but hopefully recently to you means prior to 1992-93, cause MIT was definitely club then and since.

RPI Athletic Director Ken Ralph gave an excellent interview in between periods last weekend at the RPI-Harvard game. RPI has built a solid case and has implemented a communication strategy based on the facts. I wonder if the NCAA Division III presidents will consider the announced end of Findley hockey in their deliberations and think twice about impacting the quality D1 hockey programs that are targetted by the vote.

I can't believe that any of the DIII admins will be influenced by Findlay dropping its program.
Edit:
I agree that Ken Ralph gave an excellent interview. I was especially happy to hear that there are contingency plans but they won't be revealed until after the vote. I just hope that those plans aren't merely to sue.

In these last few days before the NCAA vote on Amendment 65-1, let's add to our signature count on the petition. To date, there are 8540 signatures... ask your friends, ask other hockey fans...

Ralph,How about this? Immediately announce that RPI is upgrading to DII AND will sue to recoup the additional $$ spent to do so.
I am not a lawyer but i do wonder who would you sue? This wasn`t the NCAA`s idea. Can you sue a council of college presidents for renegging on a grandfather clause? Seems far fetched but like i said ..Im not a lawyer. I imagine it would drag on so long that the programs involved would still be adversly affected.

jstadts,
An immediate announcement of an upgrade to either D-II or D-IA together with a suit is OK with me. I just don'e want to see a lawsuit and a delay of a positive response.
Four days left.

I see that Charles Schumer will be speaking at RPI today to try to urge the 47 NYS schools voting on this proposal to vote against the proposal or for the amendment depending on how you look at it. Also, Ken Ralph states that in case this proposal goes through, RPI has a contingency plan of some type. The plan has them staying D-1 in hockey.

I will admit I am wrong if Kash. will admit he is annoying and the creator of the world's longest run-on sentence! I am pretty sure MIT still plays a D-3 schedule but I could give a crap. So, I might be wrong about this but I am right about other stuff and tomorrow I can be right or wrong but Kash will still be annoying.

Proposition 65 is the main topic of an article in today's USAToday about the NCAA meetings starting tomorrow. A sidebar confused 65.1 with 65.
