Most things that I find on the net about Rossli Chace pertain to her brother Taylor who had a serious back injury three or four years ago in a hockey game http://www.portsmouthherald.com/2003news/hampton/01242003/news/9373.htm. He is currently at UNH and has played sledge hockey in the Paralympics http://www.usoc.org/paralympics/39341_39806.htm
Back to Rossli, most of what is out there are game summaries. She also is a distance runner. There also are several links to her solving puzzles (e.g., http://www.olemiss.edu/mathed/brain/rabbits.htm). Hopefully, she was quite young whenever this was done. :) Governor Dummer doesn't appear to have stats or a roster posted. She played for St. Marks earlier.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY NAMED RAA TEAM OF THE YEAR
Rensselaer Alumni Association recognizes inaugural Division I team
TROY, N.Y. The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 2005-06 women's ice hockey team was named the Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA) Team of the Year, the association has announced.
The Engineers, who are coached by John Burke, had an outstanding year, finishing 18-6-2 in their inaugural Division I season. Playing as an independent, RPI posted an 11-game unbeaten streak to open the season, including wins over Sacred Heart, Colgate and Boston University. At season's end, Rensselaer owned the fourth highest winning percentage in Division I women's hockey (.731) and as seventh in scoring offense (3.23 goals per game) and ninth in defensive scoring (1.38 per game).
Leading Rensselaer offensively were freshman Nicole McDonald and junior captain Sarah Daniel, who tallied 25 points each. McDonald scored a team-high 17 goals and added eight assists, while Daniel tallied 14 goals and a team-high 11 assists. In addition, 17 of 18 players tallied a point or more on the season.
Backstopping the Engineers was senior Rosina Schiff, the team's Most Valuable Player. She posted a 9-4-1 record with a 1.96 goals against average and a .916 save percentage in 14 games. She finished her career with a 40-19-3 record and is the program's all-time leader in games played (65), games started (62), minutes played (3647:17), highest save percentage (.938), wins (40) and shutouts (15).
Also honored were men's basketball guard Paul Halas and field hockey midfielder Katie Baratta, both seniors, who were named the Henry Kumpf Award winners, and Tracy Leibach, managing editor in the Rensselaer Office of Communications, who was presented the Tom Sheehan Award.
The Kumpf Award is given annually to a student-athlete who has demonstrated a strong degree of motivation, desire and determination in contributing to the success of the team. The Sheehan Award is presented to a faculty of staff member in recognition of outstanding contributions to Rensselaer athletics.
Rensselaer's newest members of Olympia, the athletic department's student-athlete honor society, were also recognized at the dinner. Twenty-eight individuals were chosen from the senior class.
The Rensselaer Alumni Association Team of the Year Award was created by the RAA Board of Trustees and was first awarded in 1981 to recognize the accomplishments of Rensselaer's intercollegiate athletic teams. One award, which consists of a certificate for each team member and a $1,000 gift to the program, is presented each year. Nominations are solicited from the athletics department and are approved by the RAA Executive Committee.

The schedule in an easier to read format:
http://www.rpiathletics.com/schedules.asp?path=whock&year=2006-07
Comparing the men's an women's scedules, there are several times that the two teams will face the same set of opponents but at the opposing sites:
BU men @ RPI, RPI women @ BU 10/14/06
RPI men @ CU*2, CU*2 @ RPI women 12/1-2/06
CCT & SLU @ RPI men, RPI women @ CCT & SLU 1/19-20/07
RPI men @ DC & HU, DC & HU @ RPI women 2/2-3/07
RPI men @ CCT & SLU, CCT & SLU @ RPI women 2/16-17/07
Speaking of overlaps with the men's schedule...it will be interesting to see how many of the Women's games WRPI is able to cover this year. Any thoughts Jericho?
It's a good schedule. There are a number of other teams I would have liked to have seen on the schedule, but with the size of the ECAC now, it doesn't leave a lot of room for non-conference games.

Also, there probably is difficulty scheduling some teams. The schedule has only 33 games.

With any luck, my first two college games of the season will be at Englestad Arena to see the women take on the Fighting Sioux. Should be an excellent series.
For those keeping score, that game against BC will be the first game in the history of RPI ice hockey to take place during the month of September.
EDIT: Yeah, never mind that already - I will be at RMU/SCSU in St. Cloud the previous weekend. So the second weekend. :)

From
"Academic All Americans " thread as posted by Hab:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have sometimes wondered why I have never heard much about the Academic All American teams for hockey, but now after doing some checking into it I know why. While the CoSIDA votes for entire teams in a number of sports, hockey gets lumped in with a large number of 'other' sports in the voting for one "at large" team. Given the relatively small number of schools that have hockey programs it is probably tough to attract votes, compared to say, swimmers. Last year, only one hockey player, Caroline Ouellette achieved the honor, and she was on the third 'at large' team. The year before, also only one hockey player, Angela Ruggiero, on the first team. This year, 5 hockey players have made it to their district first teams which makes them eligible for national honors, to be voted on shortly. If I missed anyone in going through the lists, please add to this, but the five that I found are, in alphabetical order:
1) Sara Bauer, Wisconsin, winner of Patty Kazmaier award, GPA 3.95
2) Sharon Cole, Wisconsin, third highest scorer on national champ team, GPA 3.65
3) Sarah Daniel, RPI, tied for team scoring lead, GPA 3.96
4) Riita Schaublin, UMD, goalie, top 3 in Kaz voting, GPA 3.94
5) Karen Thatcher, Prov., leading scorer on team, top 10 in Kaz voting, GPA 3.85
Bauer should be a slam dunk to be named for national honors, but if history is any guide we may not see many others.
Congratulations to Sarah Daniel and all the other winners! Great Job!

We at WRPI will have a meeting later on this year and we will try to iron out a tentative schedule. This does prove difficult, as the availability of broadcasters is limited. We will try to put on as many women's games as we can for you to listen too, but we won't know for sure until later on in the year.

Laura Gersten was mentioned in the Glens Falls Post-Star on Sunday as part of a feature article on Glens Falls area athletes preparing for their first season at the collegiate level with a strict regimen.
The relevant passages:
According to several studies, only 3 perecent of high school athletes go on to play interscholastic sports in college. And as several local athletes are now finding out, that exclusivity comes with the cost of high expectations.
Once colleges' academic years end, their coaches may mail packets to incoming players detailing how to get in the peak physical condition they expect to see them in when they arrive on campus.
...
Most of what incoming freshmen are asked to do is follow strict weightlifting and running regimens. Queensbury's Laura Gersten, who will play women's ice hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fall, has to lift weights and do a jumping regimen four days a week and do running and interval work two days a week.
"And to get on the ice as much as possible," Gersten added. "It's definitely time-consuming, between an hour or two per day, but you want to prepare as well as you can. You know it will pay off down the road."

I just looked at the rosters which have been posted so far for the Chowder Cup http://www.proamhockey.com/Womens%20Chowder%20Cup/Womens%202006%20roster.htm expecting perhaps to find some of our incloing Freshmen. Surprisingly, the only RPI player listed to date is Kelly Barbera http://www.proamhockey.com/Womens%20Chowder%20Cup/2006/2006%20Rosters/Suffolk%20PAL.htm

Add recruit Laura Gersten to the list playing in the Chowder Cup unless there are two hockey players with that name: http://www.proamhockey.com/Womens%20Chowder%20Cup/2006/2006%20Rosters/Junior%20Bruins%20Gold.htm
A couple of additional posts, and this thread will finally be closed by the Board. It took a bit over three years.
