As a fan of RPI Women's Hockey, I can definately say the stroll does not appeal to me. :-)

Thanks. I guessed that it was something like that, but had a hard time believing that such an event would last. Looking through the website, I see that this is the 23rd such annual event which means that it started several years after I left RPI. I am lucky. :D
Jericho, the HFH will probably be quite empty, but if anyone concludes that it has to do with Victorian Stroll day, they have jumped to a false conclusion due to a Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc fallacy. :)

Do Victorian Strolls and hockey appeal to the same audience? As a fan of women's sports I've heard lots of reasons for low attendance, but that's a new one.
GOTTA be FREE BEER somewhere in the equation to make it detract from hockey.......

No, but maybe some students that maybe wanted to go to the game will come to downtroy Troy instead for fod, drinks, and bands. That's all I'm saying. :)

FWIW, both known recruits already appear in "Stalk a Student"
Allysen Rae Weidner, First-Year Student, Undeclared Science
Laura Ruth Gersten, First-Year Student, Undeclared
After one period of play its RPI 1, Brock 1. Sounds like the Engineers played a very sloppy period, giving lots of clear breaks to Brock, but then finally started putting it together late in the period. Emily Ford in net.

Just FWIW, there is a game thread in the scoring updates forum: http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?p=2267340

Does anyone know why Melanie Guillemette didn't play vs. Brock?
Does anyone know why Melanie Guillemette didn't play vs. Brock?
I heard that Mel was injured in the series against Maine and was kept out of the lineup against Brock as a precaution, but that it is expected she will be ready to go when play resumes in January.
RPI was pretty blah in the 1st but came out and completely dominated in the 2nd and 3rd. Brock was in all reality outmatched. The first line of McDonald - Stewart - Thompson is extremely difficult to deal with. RPI's second line of Daniel - Welte - Jacquard-Sowa is no slouch either. As the RPI men's team has learned, you need more than one line to win games!!

I don't think you can discount any of the RPI Women's lines. I believe they are all equally as good and tough to deal with in certain game situations. I do think that in faster games, the team would be better to switch it's lines around a bit. There are several girls who do well against some of the slower teams, but are not quite as agile and struggle a bit with the faster teams. :)
As I understand it, RPI is not eligible for votes in this year's D1 USCHO top ten polls, and I am not suggesting that they are good enough to deserve a top ten vote in any case. However, for those who want to follow how the team is stacking up against the competition, you can find a couple of measures of that at the site maintained by Lakersfan, where he employees two different computer ranking systems based on actual game results (a 'Mease' system, and an RPI system - thats Ratings Percentage Index). Both systems show results for the top ten to 12 teams that are close to the USCHO poll results. Rensselaer comes out ranked #13 on the Mease method, and #8 on the RPI method. Results, no doubt are heavily influenced by their surprisingly strong showing against Colgate (#17 on both) and decent showing against Maine (#18 Mease; #16 RPI). I suspect that once Rensselaer gets into the heavy going of their post - Christmas schedule it may be difficult to maintain these lofty ratings. The site is at http://vortex.bd.psu.edu/%7Erutter/WomensRankings.html.
RPI's schedule certainly gets tougher from here out....
Union X 2 RPI is probably better at this point but probably not enough
to guarantee two wins. I'll say a good chance of a sweep
though.
@ Connecticut Tough game - would hope to make it close
@ Northeastern Tough but winnable.
@ Wayne St. X 2 Tough games but winnable.
@ Clarkson By far the best opponent on the schedule. Would be
happy with a close score.
@ Vermont Definitely a winnable game.
@ Sacred Heart X 2 Should be 2 easy wins
Plattsburgh Should be a win
Williams Ditto
Quinnipiac X 2 Tough games - Quinny seems to be a good upstart
The Sacred Heart and D3 games should be wins. The Union games should probably be wins. I would be thrilled with 3 or 4 wins out of all the rest of the games.

That would be a tremendous first year if they can pull it off. They face three of the better D1 goalies in the second half: Kira Hurley, Kaitlin Shain, and Connie Craig.
Interesting little bit of info on incoming RPI recruit Laura Gersten. Check this link out :

The Troy-Albany IceCats played D3 Cortland St. earlier this year. Gersten recorded two unassisted goals from D. Granted Cortland isn't even that good of a D3 team but I'm glad to see she's got some offensive skills.

Could you explain what this means?

Well I know that 2df stands for 2 defensemen and a forward. They are three of the women's hockey players that live together. I will not mention which ones though.

Sorry - to go a little further - "2df" is what they call their house
