I doesn't surprise me that Johnston isn't on the team, considering Burke recruited two freshmen goalies.

Also, any word on who the captain(s) are this year?

For once in my life I guessed something correctly:

As to Captains, I think that Sara Daniel was named Captain.

I can't remember Ralph, was she on it very recently? I wonder if that means we'll see a last minute recruit?

It looks like Julie Aho is indeed co-oping this year. Also missing are Christina Jankowski and Christina Johnston as well as AC Bridget LaNoir.
Probably a good move for Aho, as it will give her two years of D-I play in the ECAC. Bridget LaNoir, for the record, is still the head coach of the field hockey team.

She was on the roster when I cut and pasted it on this post http://board.uscho.com/showpost.php?p=2122734&postcount=679

FWIW, USCHO now also has RPI's roster http://www.uscho.com/rosters/index.php?season=20052006&team=95&gender=w.

I met a recruit today! One of the nine Freshman or do you mean a recruit for 2006? In any case, can you reveal anything?

I notice that WRPI's tentative broadcast schedule has them doing 12 of the team's games this year. Three road games are included, starting off with what is likely to be one of their toughest tests of the year Oct 14 at Colgate (ranked 6th out of 11 in ECAC, pre-season). It looks like the principal constraint on the number of games they broadcast is conflicts with the men's schedule. Hopefully these 12 will be confirmed and they will find a way to do a few more.

I'm hearing good thinks about the team's early practices. Won't have to wait long to see how they stack up against some tough D1 competition.

FWIW, although there aren't extended bios like for the men's team, mug shots have been linked from the roster page. http://www.rpiathletics.com/roster.asp?path=whock

Did anyone see the Women's RPI scrimmage on Saturday? How did the new team look? What were the results?

Sorry I confused things- they had a scrimmage on Sunday afternoon. I would still like to hear about it.

Didn't see today's scrimmage against Etobicoke, but I've heard that RPI lost 3-1, but played reasonably well. Each of the RPI goalies played one period and each allowed one goal. Welte scored the lone RPI goal, and mostly played with Daniel and Jaquard-Sawa. One of the other lines had Brooke Thompson playing with two of the other freshmen, Stewart and McDonald, but I haven't heard what the other line arrangements were.

hab (or anyone else),

What league does Etobicoke play in?

Etobicoke plays in the PWHL in Ontario this season Etobicoke is expected to be a top team out of that league. They have a few players who will be playing or are capable of playing D1 soon.

Ralph - Saw your question on the men's board....

I, unfortunately, was not able to stick around for the women's scrimmage on Sunday but stayed at the rink with some of the girls to watch Etobicoke play the Ice Cats on Saturday night. We didn't stay the whole game but the impression I got was that they had a few very skilled players and the rest were decent. Their strength (especially against the Ice Cats) seemed to be that they were very organized/disciplined in the nuetral and defensive zones. They made smart passes and spread the puck around well....you could tell they had been playing together for a while (probably not just this season). I heard through the grapevine that RPI had lost on Sunday and was actually really surprised...I did not think this team would be much of a challenge from what I saw the night before...they didn't have a whole lot of size and were only average speed and the bench looked pretty short as well. I am guessing the main reason they won was their discipline and organization...RPI had only practiced as a team for one week and has a lot of newcomers.
Was anyone actually there who can provide insight??

It is interesting that they played both the Ice Cats and RPI. I don't know how they did vs. the Ice Cats, but just the fact that they played them indicates that RPI needs work. It's a good thing that RPI's entire season is essentially an exhibition.

When I left they had scored 6 goals I believe....that was the beginning of the 2nd
