Tabor doesn't have any stats posted and there is nothing at www.ushr.com, but this quote is from the Tabor home page Perhaps more than anyone else on the team, Emily Ford understands that “patience is a virtue.” As the team’s backup goalie for two years, Emily worked hard to improve her game while waiting for her chance to shine. Over the past two years, she has certainly shined as one of the best goalies in New England. Emily earned an amazing eight shutouts during her career and finished her senior year with an outstanding goals-against-average of just over one-per-game. We always knew that with “Fordo” in the goal, we would have a strong opportunity of beating anyone in New England. The fact that the team earned playoff spots during both years that she was the starter speaks volumes about her contribution to the team. As of this writing, Emily is undecided on her college future, but any college program that is able to attract her will be doing very well indeed.

Will there be an end to the multi-sport athletes re: women's hockey @ RPI this year?

I know that for DI football, if you play on the football team, the ONLY athletic scholarship you can receive is for football. (however, this is a poor example as you ARE still allowed to play on other DI sports as a 'walk-on'... just pointing out that there is SOME sort of regulation on this type of activity per the NCAA)

Since RPI is now offering scholarships in women's hockey, I would think there [rightfully] would be [severe] restrictions on participating in other DIII sports.

This is just speculation - anyone have any info?

There is no multi-sport playing at the 'Tute for D-I athletes, since they are on scholarship. You are getting money from the school to play that sport, and the NCAA frowns on multi-sport playing. If you are a D-III athlete, since you don't receive scholarships, you are allowed to play other sports. When Eric Cavosie's red shirt year expiredfor the men's team, he had to quit the Lacrosse team. I believe the rule is different for D-I athletes that walk-on to a team and do not earn a scholarship.

Still nothing, and we're all still hoping to see a quality schedule announced soon for RPI's first ever D1 season. I would define 'quality' as a schedule of over 30 games, with no more than a handful against D3 teams or exhibitions against Canadian teams, leaving at least 25 games against D1 teams, preferably from the bottom half of the rankings. As far as I can see, we know of 5 games for certain, there are another 10 or 11 that have been in the rumour mill, but that still leaves a lot in the mystery column. The 5 that have been announced through other teams' schedule releases are: 2 games at Wayne State; 2 at home vs. Quinnipiac; 1 at Clarkson. Others that have been rumoured are 2 against Colgate; 2 against Union; 4 against Sacred Heart and 1 against each of Plattsburgh and Elmira (both D3). Cornell should be on the schedule ( a team that we might have a shot at beating) but I have heard that they are not. Northeastern probably should be there too, but they have released their schedule, and no RPI. Others that would seem logical are Boston College; Boston University; Robert Morris;Vermont. If we assume 2 games against each, that gets us to about 23 games. Any thoughts on where the other 10-12 will come from? By the way, I have heard that the schedule is done or close to it, and that it is a good one, so I'm not really worried, just speculating on what it would look like.

USCHO has started to enter the women's schedules. RPI's schedule is now partially at http://www.uscho.com/schedules/team.php?season=20052006&team=95&gender=w. It does include Northeastern.

Ralph, you are incredible! I had a feeling that if there were any news out there about RPI hockey that I was missing that you would see it first. Thanks, I'll be interested in seeing how this schedule gets fleshed out over the coming weeks. Good to see Northeastern on the schedule, and the games against McGill and Brock should be interesting as well.

It seems a shame there's only 2 evening games at home (thus far). I'd really like to see the women's games increase in popularity, but they're never going to be able to draw a large crowd for afternoon games. :-/

Not necessarily. USCHO's postings of D1 games is still very incomplete. However, I do expect that they will try to line up games against at least Elmira and Plattsburgh.

Actually, it seems pretty odd to me. Usually, they get some teams' complete schedules which allow partial schedules for the opponents. Here it seems like they have random games. That is, they don't have nearly complete schedules for most of our opponents either.

I agree that we will probably see Elmira and Plattsburgh for return visits to Troy, but not many other D-III games.

Elmira and Plattsburgh are both on the schedule according to what I know, I believe Middlebury may also be there somewhere. Manhattanville definitely is not.

as well as

Also an away game vs McGill has been added on 02/10/2006.
