Anybody know if either team will have internet audio coverage? (I just answered part of my own question: if the game is Saturday at 7 WRPI certainly won't be covering it as the men's team is playing at home at the same time).

You were going to have hard time getting me to drive up to Plattsburgh no matter when the game was.:p

So what's the final word? I take it that it's happening on Thursday since the Engineers are still competing in the ECAC East tournament.

Yes, but they get a bye in the first round, being seeded 2nd, so they don't have any scheduled games for this weekend. Someone could email the sports information director to get an official word. ("Why don't you do it, Mr. Itty?") Okay, I will. I'll post here if/when Mr. Beattie writes back.

Cancel that. The RPI Athletics page has already been updated: http://www.rpi.edu/dept/athletics/ It's Saturday at 7pm. (The schedule at the left says Friday, but the big red update notice says Saturday....)

*EDIT: The schedule on the left has been fixed, after my email to Mr. Beattie

No discussion on tomorrow's game? HUGE test for the Lady Engineers on the road. If the games against Manhattanville and Elmira are any indication, this should be a terrific game. RPI has shown that they can play with any team in the country. It's time to start winning some of these games against the D3 elites.

I agree, should be a great game, depending on which RPI team shows up :D . I saw the Elmira game and felt RPI should have come away with a win. I hope that's the team that shows up against Plattsburgh, rather than the team that showed up for the second Manhattanville game. I have had a chance to see many of the top D3 teams this year and RPI is as solid as any of them. Good opportunity to get sharp for the ECAC East tournament.

RPI loses 3-0 to Plattsburgh. Disappointing result but it's certainly been an excellent regular season. The girls have shown they can play with any team in the country, it's just a matter of stepping it up a bit and playing more consistently. We'll be rooting for them when they are down in Rye!

If anyone is interested, the women's unofficial team website has been updated. Julie Aho's interview piece is interesting. More specifically, she says she is a better goaltender than forward. I had heard this several times before from various sources. Here's my thought...Is it possible that Coach Burke, in the transition to D1, will use Julie as a goalie? Wouldn't it be nifty to see a Rosina Schiff / Julie Aho goalie rotation? Obviously it depends on how good Julie really is and how the recruiting class is going. Perhaps we have a D1-quality goalie coming in already? We do have Chris Johnston too but she hasn't played much.

I'd just be interested in seeing how good Julie really is between the pipes.

For those as annoyed as I am at the lack of information available, the RPISPORTS email sent out this morning contains the ECAC East-III tournament times. The first semi-final game between Manhattanville and NEC will be at 3:00pm on Saturday (according to GoValiants.com (http://www.govaliants.com) - note that USCHO's schedule lists it at 12:00noon). RPI's game vs RIT is scheduled for 6:30pm (though I'm wondering if it will actually just be X minutes after the first game ends). The championship game on Sunday will be at 2pm.

I just booked my hotel for the weekend, so I look forward to watching some good games.

FWIW, USCHO has updated their schedule. They now agree with M'ville's own site in that the first semi-final game will be at 3pm.

Just a reminder that barring a third men's game on Sunday, and if the women make the championship game, we will bring you that game live on www.wrpi.org

RPI defeats RIT 5-2 today in the semi-finals. They now take on Manhattanville tomorrow at 2pm.

A fun game, though a little shakey at times. The second period in particular was pretty nerve-racking, as both teams scored 2 goals.

Also a pretty even turnout between RPI and RIT fans. Notable (to me anyway) was VP for student life, Dr. Eddie Knowles, putting in an appearance, and perhaps being the loudest RPI fan there.

Looking forward to tomorrow's championship game. Hoping RPI can make a statement before leaving D3 behind.

I've seen Eddie at a few of the women's games, home and away, and you're right, it is great to see him there!

The RPI Men's team lost tonight, so WRPI will be making the trip down to broadcast.

Watched part of the video webcast of the Manhattanville / NEC game and it was pretty good quality, so I'd recommend it to RPI fans out there (while of course keeping your audio tuned in to our good friends at WRPI ;) ).

Does anyone know if M'ville has a radio broadcast of the game, in addition to the webcast? I like to have play-by-play in my ear as I watch, and I've verified that WRPI doesn't reach to Rye. :-)

(Now, if one of the WRPI broadcasters reads this and offers me the ability to sit by them while they announce, I'd be forever greatful... :-P )

In that rink, you could've stood behind us.

Yeah, no kidding. I kinda assumed they'd have you on the opposite side of the rink, where M'ville does their webcast. I know Kurt and Mike B at one time called a baseball game from the stands in Clarkson. I thought that was bad, but your set up yesterday was absurd. Well, at least RPI no longer has a reason to ever go back there again.

Tough break for the RPI team yesterday, but still a great season. They set a school record for most wins in one season (21) and two or three were named to the ECAC East all-star team. At the conclusion of the awards ceremony, the ECAC rep wished RPI good luck in Division I, and I think we all echo that sentiment.

Looking forward to next year!

Word. I only ever saw one game there, but a competitive team like Manhattanville deserves a much better facility than that hole.
