Without trying to probe to deep, what type of source gives rise to this rumor?

I am not the recruiting coach. I am not currently affiliated with the program in any way. However, my knowledge on this IS more than wishful thinking.
OK...you missed the point. Unless you were present at the face to face meetings between the player/coach/any AD personnel that talked to the player- you have no idea what was said to the player!!
Without even mentioning the coach; imagine this....player on visit, meets coach, has tour, coach has other commitment but arranged some other athletic department person to take the player on a tour of the rink, etc after..
So, the player is on this part of their day, and the 'tour guide' says ..'After next year, we will be D1, with 18 scholarships; that will be great'...What do you think the player would think?? (Remembering we are talking about 17 and 18 year olds here)
This is hilarious. You want to crucify a program based on someone's blind accusation. You go ahead, sir. I know different - and better.
Read my post again- I was not beating on RPI- I was commenting on the NCAA ruling and some of your posts. I think it's great that the RPI women are getting the same treatment as the men. I don't get what was hilarious, you better believe that your school is above this stuff, (or not care- like some football schools I can think of). There was no attempt to crucify- I said what I saw- within 20 feet- didn't say I heard of scholly offers, or any special treatment for said players.
I was using OSU as an example, period. The recruiting violations in football at the big time programs are out of control, as as I'm sure basketball is too.
Having said that- I would like to see the NCAA program at any level in any sport, that has not broken the rules- the rule book is ridiculous and most AD's couldn't give you all the interpetations that might be posssible!! Most of the violations are meaningless, but it's the same thing. Some of their rules are insane, when applied to hockey (like the contact allowed for Canadians a whole year before you can call players here!!) , but they are what they are- a feeder for the NFL and NBA, so be it.

Yet this person who makes the accusation apparently does. Great use of hypocrisy, sir.

I don't get what was hilarious, you better believe that your school is above this stuff, It's not a matter of belief. I'm aware of how closely scrutinized the NCAA Rulebook is at my alma mater - I've been part of it. Any rule violation - and this hasn't yet happened to the best of my knowledge - would be self-reported and self-punished. That's the level of integrity that I know of in the RPI Athletic Department.
Hab - I wasn't aware that Sarah Daniel turned down an athletic scholarship to attend RPI. Do you know what D1 schools were interested?

.
Being a DI school i wouldnt think it is a violation
but I would think it should disqualify a team from DIII Championship Play
I'm not the person who made these accusation's
i'm only here like everyone else to find out how true they are

I'm not at liberty to say which schools but there were two: if I recall correctly one offered an athletic scholarship, the other put together a financial package based on academics.

Very sad state of affairs if its true Stetem :( . I feel sorry for all those players who work all year in the expectation that championships will be decided by them, on the ice, rather than by Machiavellian administrators in Board rooms looking for ways to give their programs an advantage. Barring a big upset, it looks like the way is now pretty clear for Manhattanville to repeat as ECAC "champs". But I wonder if it will have a bit of a hollow feeling to it this year? My suspicion would be that many of the Manhattanville players would have preferred to see RPI stay in it as well, but these sorts of decisions are seldom made with the players interests in mind.

RPI is going to the ECACs...you all heard wrong. If anyone is questioning, they are taking home the title as well as attending the playoffs. Do you expect there will be a large crowd for senior night?

D1 announcement was made on Jan 12- 13 days after RPI's Early Decision notification (12/31). 5 freshmen this year, yet there was no info on any of them until 4/26?? So 3 or 4 of these inbound freshmen went early decision, were accepted, and sent their enrollment back before 01/12, and no one on this board (which has a rabid RPI fan base as I can tell), knew who they were?
Suggests to me that the coach told them he would get them in, yadaa,yadaa...
It was known around the preps in the '02-'03 season that D1 was in the cards for RPI......Bill Cahill passed away Oct 6, 2003 and Coach Burke was a scramble hire....scramble to plug in, scramble to coach and all that came with dealing with that loss.....if he had time between then and Jan 12, 2004 to recruit based on a lot of maybes he sure did double duty. The kids I knew in the preps that knew DI was possible debated the school on the academic side and were savvy enough to know if you went then MAYBE you could 'earn' a scholarship when/if they went D1, provided they set their program to retro..... there were a lot of if's and none of the kids I knew were offered anything.....my direct experience was with Cornell, Colby and Bowdoin and all 3 went straight to EFC and any differences were in the form of loans......any kids that went to RPI from '03-'04 did so taking a big chance, but also getting a great education.

RPI defeats D1's Sacred Heart today, 4-2, in a possible taste of the season to come. That was a fun game. Being senior 'night', it shouldn't be surprising that it was possibly the biggest crowd of any women's game this season. The Pep Band's participation and Puckman's appearance helped set the mood for the afternoon. Oh, and RPI winning was nice too. :-)
The first 5 or 10 minutes looked a little sloppy. Perhaps the pressure of the large crowd and all the parents in attendance made them a little shaky to start, but they soon found their way. There were several times during 5-on-5 play in which it felt like RPI was on the powerplay, skating circles around the Pioneers.
In any case, a fun game, and a fitting last homegame for the final D3 team.

RPI is definitely in the ECAC Tournament. Not a rumor, but fact. RPI was never legally out. The AD's of the other schools tried, but did not succeed.

The other AD's couldn't read their manuals correctly.
Good luck to all, it's going to be a great tournament.
I notice that RPI's unofficial website lists the date of the game against Plattsburgh as this coming Saturday, whereas the schedule all along has shown it as Thursday, as does the official RPI website. So I checked Platty's website and they show it as "Saturday (new date)", so I am assuming that it has been moved to Saturday? Anybody know if either team will have internet audio coverage? (I just answered part of my own question: if the game is Saturday at 7 WRPI certainly won't be covering it as the men's team is playing at home at the same time).

That's a big disappointment if it's true. I was hoping to go up for the game with my sister on Thursday, but I already have plans to be in Troy this upcoming weekend. :(

I think there was an agreement before the season that the game would be moved to Saturday if RPI wasn't playing in the ECAC East tournament this weekend.
