I don't know about RPI but I think the schedules have been pretty much set. I have heard NEC's out of conference foes include Middlebury, Plattsburgh, Williams, Utica and Elmira. These probably replace Amherst, Trinity, Buffalo State twice and Cortland. If true that is quite an upgrade. I have heard that Castleton and St. Anselms are joining the ECAC East but NEC is playing each only once similar to MIT last year. I wonder if RPI is doing the same.

I'd like to see RPI on Elmira's schedule next season....dont know if it will happen but it would be nice...
Teams i would like to see on Elmira's OOC schedule next year:
Stevens Point
Superior
RPI
Manhattanville
Middlebury
Bowdoin
RIT
NEC
Clarkson
tUMD:) :D (Hey everyone can have a dream);)
It's great to see NEC get the recognition they deserve for the way they have brought that program along so quickly: that should be a great schedule and lots of opportunity to crack the top ten with a big win here or there. As for RPI, I would be surprised and disappointed if both Elmira and Plattsburgh aren't on the schedule this year. I would like to see Middlebury too...but don't hold your breath on that one.

It does make sense for RPI to schedule almost entirely DIII games for 2004/5 just looking at the one year in a vacuum, but in the long term wouldn't a gradual increase in DI scheduling be better?
In my view, (not shared by many, it seems, based on some exchanges on another thread last winter) there isn't a big difference in calibre between the top Div 3 teams like Plattsburgh and Elmira, and the bottom end of Div 1, so in terms of gaining experience against difficult teams I would prefer to see RPI focus on building the toughest possible Div 3 schedule next year and take a run at a trip to the nationals. However, one concern that I do have, after watching a number of Div 3 and Div 1 games over the last few years, is that it is my impression that the referreeing in Div 3 is a lot weaker, and has a lot of trouble dealing with physical play (they tend to call almost all body contact as a penalty). RPI is going to need to make a transition to a somewhat more aggressive and more physical style of play, and it is tough to do that with Div 3 refs on the ice.

What a great new website for RPI women's hockey! This is already a much better site than the official RPI site, I can't wait to see how it develops. Hopefully an early sign that as the team makes the transition to Div 1 its going to develop the same reputation for dedicated fan base that the mens team has had for many years. By the way, I have figured out a couple other additions to the RPI schedule to add to the games listed on this site: Jan 8&9 RPI is in Manhattanville for maybe their biggest weekend of the regular season. And Feb 11 and 12 St. Michaels visits RPI.

Who gets credit for this? You, Acronym?

I noticed that there is a modified Puckman logo http://www.rpiwomenshockey.freeweb-hosting.com/coaches.html with angel wings and BC replacing RPI in honor of Bill Cahill. (Originally, I thought that the site was hacked by Boston College. ) Is that logo being used by the team officially?
Also I see that there is a second recruit not mentioned here before: Ellen McNamara from the Little Caesars http://www.rpiwomenshockey.freeweb-hosting.com/mcnamara.html

Another Mac Attack...Ellen's sister Erin played at SCSU, brother Jim at SCSU & Western Michigan, and now Ellen is continuing the eastward migration at RPI. Congrats to Ellen, best of luck.
I'm glad to see this thread is still up and running. First things first, what a great web site for the RPI women. I've seen some D1 men's sites that aren't half as good as it. This can only help get the RPI name out there to potential recruits as the women's team gears up for the move to D1.
Secondly, we know of two defensive recruits so far.....bring on the forwards!! Two or three high scoring forwards would really fill this team out nicely.
Here are a couple of links I found for Ellen McNamara. She looks like a good one.

I heard that one of the assistant women's hockey coach, who is also the head field hockey coach is just going to coach field hockey. That leaves an opening I'm guessing. I don't know, though. Just had the thought on my mind.

I was looking at the schedule for next year. The OOC games are vs Union, Williams, Elmira,, Utica, Sacred Heart, and Plattsburgh. Union, Williams, and Sacred Heart were also on last years's schedule, so Elmira, Utica, and Plattsburgh replace Clarkson, Vermont, and Quinnipiac, three D-I teams. So it looks like RPI has indeed tried to play an improved D-III schedule for their last D-III season instead of gradually playing more D-I opponents. Does anyone have any comments?
Personally, I like to see the match-ups between top Div 3 teams and lower tier Div 1 teams and certainly last year RPI showed well in those games. However, the reality is that for two years in a row RPI has narrowly missed being chosen for the Div 3 nationals after finishing second to Manhattanville in the ECAC East. Both years, two or even three teams have been chosen from each of NESCAC and ECAC West with only Manhattanville qualifying from ECAC East. RPI's impressive showings against Div 1 teams do not count in the ranking formulae, and once you take those games away RPI's strength of schedule was a notch below a few of the other contenders. I think that RPI has made the right choice here, even though I would have loved to see an opportunity to rub some salt in the wounds of Clarkson following last year's 2-2 tie:D
