ESPN2 almost made me very mad, and very sad. The signal for the game went out for about 5 or 6 seconds.

Despite whining to the contrary, I'm glad we actually have some people announcing this game with college hockey background. Sean McDonough used to do college games back on NESN but is best known for his work at CBS, ESPN, the Olympics, and the voice of the Red Sox. Bob Norton also does games regularly and has an extensive college hockey broadcast and recruiting resume.

I've actually been quite pleased with the choice as they aren't condenscending like past ESPN broadcasts and have a genuine appreciation and knowledge of the college game. They do have college backgrounds, but that doesn't mean that they're any good at announcing a game. As HockeyBum has said more than once tonight, they remind me of the announcers for the olympics. They're not announcing the play, they tell stories about the backgrounds to whatever player just touched the puck as they finish telling the background story for another guy. I liked the announcers that were used during the various regionals, ESPN should tap them for three game contracts. Well, except for Tom Sagissor, he's Dcik Vitale's annoying younger brother.

Is anyone else pleasantly surprised that ESPN2 is sticking with this coverage and not planning on cutting out to Wild/Av game?
Way to go ESPN!

That's prob. because college hockey fans will voice their opinion through e-mails, phone calls and letters. People who watch the pros will ****** but won't say anything to ESPN itself.

Well, being from Grand Forks, he probably played enough hockey against MN teams to almost be a MN hockey player...

Both teams are tired, nobody's skating very quick or very sharp right now.
