Oh, such lousy news to wake up to this morning. Good to hear, though, that Joe's condition has been upgraded.

Get well Joe!

We all love to bicker and bite and scrap with each other, but when one of college hockey's soldiers goes down, we all come together. Lord, we lift Joe and his family up to you in prayer.

Where is Joe from? Is his family close by? Because if I ever get hurt the first people I'd want by my side are my folks.

His parents were called down onto the ice last night according to the Boston Globe article.

All our thoughts are with Joe E. and the MC hockey fraternity.

FWIW: six years ago next week, I personally had the same experience/diagnosis exactly as Joe is in now. One thing I learned from it is that it's much harder on your family and closest friends than it is on you personally, since the most critical questions simply can't be answered immediately after the accident. They're terrified; from your perspective, you just take a very extended, woozy "nap".

With any luck, within the next 48 hours or so his condition will be clearer, and a lot of the immediate fears will be put to rest.

One fortunate aspect is that there were medical personnel on hand -- unlikely his O2 levels dropped much, or for for very long. That's crucial.

Our thought and prayers are with you, Joe.

How awful for them to have to see him in that state or witness the hit... but it's good for Joe to have them by his side!
