Here's another good story. It kind of wraps things up for now I guess.

Good article. I got chills reading the stuff about how his parents reacted when he was on the ice. I'm thrilled to hear that he's doing better and has such a positive attitude.

As promised when I started this thread, I am mailing a hard copy of the thread to Joe in the next day or two. I enclosed the following letter:

Dear Joe,

My name is Bob Hatcher and I am a recent Boston College alumnus and a hockey fan. I follow college hockey very closely, and I was there at Conte Forum last month when you were hit.

I am a member of the USCHO.com message board. The night you were injured, I started a thread on the board for members of the fan community to post their thoughts and well-wishes. Five weeks later, the thread had received 545 responses from fans of at least 34 division-I programs representing every conference, as well as two division-III programs. Please find a copy of this thread enclosed – I hope you find it a source of inspiration to know that there are so many people behind you.

We all love hockey, and we realize that it is, in the end, just a game. On behalf of college hockey’s fan community, we wish you the best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Warmest regards,

Bob Hatcher
