Hopefully the medication maintained coma kept the swelling down.
His response is a very positive indication.
Brain stem injury usually shuts down a lot of higher functions. The fact that he responds to a personal contact is a wonderful sign.

Kick ***** Joe Exter and get ready to watch the frozen four.

I have never seen him play, but from all the great things everyone has said about him, he has a fan for life in me. Get well soon Joe and my thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless

I just wanted to let Joe's family and friends know that many UNH hockey fans have had him in their prayers since the accident. We hope to see him back on the ice soon.

I was there they are saying there were about 900 people there. It was a really nice simple prayer service in which the college president spoke, one of our preist spoke, a couple of readings and coach Serino had a few words himself.

This is definitely "a little good news" (to quote Anne Murray) on a day full of bad news.

Their is a nice article in this weeks Sports Illustrated about the Exter-Eaves incident. The article does not appear to be avaialble at SI.com.
