burd, your words are almost exactly what I've been thinking but couldn't get out... thanks.
I didn't get a chance to sign the card from the BU fans yesterday, although I wish I had... Joe, I know you'll get the chance to see this thread soon and read everyone's wishes for your recovery! This weekend's games had a shadow hanging over them. From myself and my friends who don't post on here, get well soon.

WCVB-5 in Boston just said Mr. Exter is still in serious condition (6:45PM Sunday evening).
Get well, Joe - the best news we'll all hear is that you're on the way to recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ok, is there anyone on this board qualified to fill us in on what is going on medically with him.
I'm not too familar with head trauma. So is it a positive sign that he has made it this far, or is it a bad sign that he isnt' showing major signs of recovery yet? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I have to think him being young, in great shape will only help increase his odds, but this thing is really scary.
I just keep sending my best wishes. I'd be so happy to hear he is pulling through this and that he will at least be able to live some semblance of a normal life after this.

I agree with Maize.
I am praying for this kid. Is there any other information. Serious is better than critical but what does serious mean at this point? Is he concious?
Get well soon, Joe.

Get well Joe Exter! You are by far one of the best goaltenders in Hockey East, if not the nation. My prayers are with you and your family. Any heckling that myself or other UNH Pep Band members bestowed upon you was good-natured and in the spirit of the game. You not only have tremendous skills, but you play the game in a sportsmanlike manner that athletes around the country should look up to. I wish you a speedy recovery!

The local news (WBZ-TV) reported tonight that he had two skull fractures.

I have never met you. I do not know your family. I have never seen either you or your team play. Before Friday night, I did not know you existed. Your life and mine are nearly 1000 miles apart. But this weekend, I find myself thinking of you often, and I am not an especially sentimental person. Maybe this is because, in this short time, I and other strangers like me have come to know you as the kind of person we value as a friend, family member, or teammate. Fight, Joe. Fight and win this battle. And if the collective thoughts of others like me count in this game, then there's nothing but home jerseys on the ice and the fans have all come for you. Fight and win, Joe.
No one has put it so well as burd. This post is definitely worth repeating.
My family holds you and all of yours in our prayers until you fully recover. Keep fighting buddy, we're all rootin for ya.

If there's one thing that has me toasting anything but Jose Juan Barea tonight, it's Joe Exter's speedy recovery. It'll work out.
Get better, X-Man! My thoughts, and all of Northeastern's, are with you.

This is exactly what so many of us are feeling, burd. Someone should inscribe this message on a card and send it to Joe and his family at Beth Israel.
We won't stop praying for you, Joe.

The same from this NU fan, as well.
This kind of thing puts hockey in perspective... just a game. Sorry to hear that, as of Sunday night, Joe is still in serious condition.
My prayers join everyone else's for a speedy and full recovery for a great competitor and, by all accounts, a great guy.
