There is a new division 1 league in the west called Hockey West. Teams include Weber State, University of Utah, Brigham Young, Arizona State and the University of Arizona, and maybe Colorado State.

Brigham Young is looking for a new head coach for the '03-'04 season. Stipend will be paid. Anyone know anyone who may be interested?

This is great news.....I would target the Phoenix area for your coach and will this program be sanctioned d1 or club level?

The Utah teams will be moving up to D1 in the ACHA. Some high profile people outside of Brigham Young University are working to raise money to support a NCAA D1 program. There have been discussions among these people and the school president. The monetary goal is $10 million. The school has not been doing back flips about this but it hasn't said no either.

University of Utah president is the former president at Michigan when they won the NCAA's in the mid-90's. The new president at Utah Valley State College (not a member of this new league) is from Ferris State.

Hopefully increased interest can continue to be generated.

Title IX is going to screw that up.....Wouldn't the coach at BYU need to be a Mormon????

The $10 mil would support a girls team also. As far as a coach needing to be a mormon - not necessarily but life for a non-mormon there would be a little difficult.
