Hahahaha, i hope this thread was written as a joke or someone was seriously drunk when they wrote it. You will never see MIT at nationals. The only way theyll ever make it there is if all the 400 other teams in the ACHA div 2 fold. Until then best of luck with your little dream......

Congratulations on finishing 2nd in one of the worst leagues in ACHA div 2. Have fun playing Coast Guard, WPI, and Springfield College. Those are some pretty tough teams who never even come close to making the national tournament. Now that Franklin Pierce is gone your league stands no chance of ever representing the northeast. Hope you wake up from this little dream fast. Bryant is ranked 9th and your ranked 12th. Gotta move up a few more notches if you wanna go to Cali.....Pretty weak schedule too to be bragging about 2nd place. If i ever saw that schedule id hope to come in first place with no losses.....

but who cares anyways, when we all know Boston College is gonna win the D1 championship, woo hoo, we are BC!!!
MIT students dont exactly go to school for hockey so having such a good hockey team here is a surprise!

That was quite the uniformed post. You do know that MIT made it to the ACHA DII nationals a few years ago when it was played in Utah, right? They actually had a pretty good showing as a matter of fact. Lost to the eventual national champ Life by 1 goal late in the 3rd period. I should know, not only did I play for a DII team that year, but I have friends who played for both Life and MIT that year.

I played MIT two years ago and they were nothing special. It was one of those games where our coach told us to stop scoring out of respect for the other team. The SuperEast generally sends three out of the four teams each year to nationals, and its up to all the other teams in the NE to get ranked fourth to go. The NECHL is a very weak league containing schools like Springfield, Bridgewater, WPI, Coast Guard, and MIT..Its hard for those schools to get highly ranked cause of the weak schedules they play throughout the year. Beating teams in your league is great but it wont get you in the top five usually. Playing stronger teams outside your league and beating them is always a sure way to getting ranked. Bryant finished 9th and MIT finished 12th in the NE this year. After the top six or seven teams the level of play drops to a lower level of hockey. Its always going to be a challenge for those teams in the weaker leagues to go to nationals....

I don't really know anything about the league MIT played(s) in and what the state of their program is these days.
I was just pointing out the fact that what you alluded to when you said "MIT will never make it to nationals" was completely wrong since they've already been there. Like I said before, they went the year it was played in Utah, Salt Lake I believe, and had a very strong showing losing to the eventual national champs - Life University. A game that was decided by one goal scored late in the 3rd period.

they had a very good team this year, just lost a few close ones. They had the talent to win it all this year, but next year they have some good freshmen coming and should be a good team once again.

Speaking of the Nationals.....how are teams selected? Is it based on league record or strength of schedule?

Based on ur team's record and the quality of opponents you play

I see Bryant won the NECHA playoffs last season. They had some good young freshman so they might be tough the next few years.
I also hear they are trying to beef up their schedule to qualify for the Nationals.

For Bryant to qualify for the nationals they would have to play the top five teams from the supereast considering that 3 out of the 4 teams that went to nationals were from the supereast. Penn State has moved to the Supereast so for any team to have a chance to qualify they would have to play a number of games against those teams. Bryant played Westfield last year which is a member of the Supereast and lost. Having all freshman is a plus for them but playing one of the top five teams wont qualify u for nationals.
