8-0 UNH over connecticut

any post game comments?

looks like UNH really took care of business today...the huskies may not be a top ten team but they tied providence and beat NU- i didnt expect an 8-0 win

Christine Dufour is off to Wisconsin... she's listed as 5'1" so here's hoping she can be a number one goaltender.

I think UNH is looking at another Quebec kid by the name of Melissa Bourdon.

Where did you get your information from? UW listed its early signings and Dufor was not one of them. Colleges can not sign anyone again until April 2003.

i really like that the cats have developed a strong home ice advantage. it seems to me that they are much more successful at home on the big ice.
thus far this season, they are 8-0-0 at home with 40 goals for and 11 against.
away from the whitt they are 6-1-1 with 28 goals for(including the 10-0 quinn. game) and have allowed 13.
it looks like the offense is much more productive in durham.
what is great is that besides the SLU series, the cats have been able to win on the road as well as dominate at home.
i like that they have made the whitt a tough place to play for opponents. in recent years it seemed like the opposition used the whitt better to their advantage than UNH

its too bad both harv and dart are away games for UNH

but i am psyched that harvard is on friday and dartmouth not until sunday...this way UNH will go after harvard without being tired or beaten up from a game the day before, and then saturday they can rest up after having to go all out v. the #1 team in the country and go right after dartmouth with a day of rest

They can verbal, but it can't be 'released to the public'...
I know with the men's recruits, as soon as they verbal, someone knows, and it becomes public, even though it can't be 'released' by the school....

4. UNH
5. dartmouth
6. Providence
7. Boston College
8. Niagara
9. Brown
10. Wisconsin

defense
1. harvard
2. UNH
3. UMD
4. mercyhurst
5. providence
6. minnesota
7. princeton
8. wisconsin
9. dartmouth
10. bemidji / northeastern

That's true, but they still haven't had the toughest of competition. Next weekend will be a huge test for them. Sounds like they had all they could handle from UConn.

Sunday, yes. But Saturday was an absolute blowout. It will be interesting to see how the team responds if they lose both games this weekend (which they well could).

Dufour...isn't 5'1...she is listed at 5'7 on the Canadian Hockey Association site...

Unless she's shrinking, 5-7 is a more accurate figure based on her official visit to UW in November.

those **** shrinking goalies :D

gmsmith is pretty reliable, if he says shes going to wisconsin i believe it...were you able to find anything about it at your end frozenaffairs?

Actually, the CHA site (I assume you're looking at the U-18 tournament from 2001) lists her at 5'1" but if Frozenaffairs has actually seen her, that's obviously a better guide.

Dufour verbally committed after the early signing period.

The CHA U-18 Tournament Team Quebec Roster lists her as 5'1". The CHA 2001 U-22 Roster lists her as 5'7".

I would assume 5'7" would probably be the more accurate figure. 5'1" seems awfully small for a D1 caliber goaltender.

She is about the same height as the other two goalies on the UW roster who stand 5-6 and 5-7.

Question, its a long time until April. It is my understanding that verbals are not binding. Yes, I realize that if a college renegs it could severly damage their reputation and hamper future recruiting. However, I wonder how often potential athletes change their minds in the world of womens hockey. I know this happens quite often in other sports. There are no penalites that Im aware of.

So what does everyone think of the UNH/Harvard matchup? I think that UNh can take them if they play well and play good defense. they need to play as a team and huggon needs to have a great game. which im sure she will cuz she always does in big games. they need to get shots and not allow to many. so yea post a reply!

ok...the first half for the wildcats is complete. they finish 5-0-0 in hockey east and 14-3-1 overall with losses to harvard, dartmouth, and stlawrence.
this past weekend proved to be a chore for the cats 7-1L to #1harvard and a 3-0 loss to dartmouth.
UNH still has an exciting half of hockey left though. they still face off against providence 3 times, wisconsin twice, brown, and minnesota at the whitt.

any reactions/ comments on UNH thus far and whats to come?

Well, when I first heard who Kay was being replaced with my first thought was "you've gotta be kidding me right?", now mid-way through the season my thought is "why didn't they bring him in sooner". It's been a very strong season for the Lady Cats but they still have several difficult games in front of them. Much improved over last season but still not a Frozen Four caliber team, maybe if womens hockey did a men's type playoff, instead of just taking the top four ranked teams, UNH would stand a chance.
