I dont really know anything other than we have 3 new goalies, and then a few transfers. If anyone knows anything let me know b/c i gotta know!! I also heard that the only freshmen that are returning are Lindsey Hansen and Vikki Davis! The rest transferred or just didnt return!!
How do u think the lady cats will do this year, i think they will do just fine! They are pretty much the same team as last year and most of the top scorers are back! GO BLUE!!

Huggon left a HUGE void in net, they should be fine on D and up front...
there were only 4 freshmen on the roster last year anyhow, Lankton transfered to BSU, and True never played anyhow

I saw Sadie Wright-Ward play a couple of weeks ago in the VT-NH Make-A-Wish all star game between the two states (won by Vt 3-2). She was New Hampshire's best player and scored in the game. Very aggressive forward and should fit into UNH quite well.

I also had the opportunity to see Sadie Wright-Ward play this past winter at the CT. Polar Bears Christmas Tournament as a member of the Syracuse Stars. I also noticed her stellar play. She has the talent to score in bunches and is also an intense and physical player. In fact, the game I watched she scored the only goal in Syracuse's 1-0 win over Assabet. No doubt she will be an impact player for UNH.....also, faceoff, did you get any other impressions about any other players that participated in the game.

I was also impressed with Emily McNamarra from NH (headed to Middlebury), Jessica Benoit from VT (headed to UVM), Allison Graddock from VT (headed to Middlebury), and Emily Grant from VT (headed to UCONN). There were other solid players on both teams but these 4 (also Wright-Ward as I mentioned before) stood out above the rest.

Although UNH has not announced its recruits, Fosters has a blurb about three UNH players making the Canadian training camp. They include Stephanie Jones, and recruit Martine Garland.

HEKLE GETS FLAG HONOR
Friday, February 21, 2003
By: Manitoba Sport
Manitoba's flag bearer for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2003 Canada Winter Games in Bathurst and Campbellton, New Brunswick is Nicole Hekle from the Ringette team.

17 year old Nicole has played at the Canadian National Ringette Championships for the last four years winning gold in 2001 and 2002. She is also an all star in female high school hockey and soccer and an honours student at St. Mary's Academy. As captain and leading scorer of her high school hockey team, she has led the St. Mary’s Flames to two straight Winnipeg Women’s High School Hockey League Championships. Nicole would have played on the Team Manitoba Canada Games Women’s Hockey Team as well at these Games if not for the one sport Canada Games restriction. Faced with having to make the choice between the two sports, she made the decision to stay with her ringette team for the Games in New Brunswick.

Nicole's sister Jana played on theTeam Manitoba Ringette Team at the 1999 Canada Winter Games. She is also the daughter of the Team Manitoba head ringette coach Wayne Hekle who has coached Nicole since she was 4 years old.

UNH should be fine in Net this year. Two top freshman goalies, one being Assabet top goalie and 2003 USA National Champion and all star goalie in Boys H.S. Hockey and also she scrimaged UNH last fall giving up one goal on 24 shots, the other a Candian goalie and a tranfer goalie from UMD.

UNH should be a very strong and competitive team this year if all the chips fall in the right places.;)

Hopefully they learned this year not to double schedule, I'm sure the Friends of Womens banquet took a hit with a large crowd following the men (know I would have gone had it been scheduled a different day).

UNH now has all three All Rookie forwards from last year in Hockey East

Rebecca Paul is an important addition. She's a sophomore which gives the team better balance/experience distribution for the next three years-otherwise would be pretty thin in second year depth. And she is a big strong player, and the Cats could use some size and strength. Works hard, and loves hockey. A real bonus for the Cats.

I've read that both Rebecca Paul and Rebecca Peterson are transferring from Northeastern to UNH. Is this true?

No listing for Rebecca Peterson on the UNH directory. Paul is listed.
