Ah yes, the communication gap between kids away in college and parents. If it was only that simple.;)

any word on who UNH has coming in next season to fill the goalie void?
i've heard that UNH has an extremely strong recruiting class coming in but no mention about the goalie situation.

I know that UNH has recruited Brittany Busa, Assabet Midget 1 goalie. She played for Concord/Carlisle boys varsity. Shes a fantastic goalie, you can always count on her. Also, I heard that UNH has gotten Cushing Academy/Chelmsford Midget Lindsay Caleo. Great power forward. ive read/heard from various places they UNH landed martine garland and shannon clement, two of the better defenders in ontario (and both with pretty good size as well)
this is a huge year for UNH...if mccloskey can get a good first class and make a few connections around the womens hockey world with this class, he's going to set himself up very nicely for the future.
no doubt his success behind the bench his first year isnt going to hurt him as he tries to recruit this class.
ive heard he's bringing in a very large class too, so i'd maybe look for a few players who arent graduating from this years squad to maybe not be back next season

i herd Sadie Wright-Ward from Brewster Acadamy/ Syracuse Stars. Played with Hansen and i think MacMaster!

well she is from durham so i suppose that wouldnt be much of a stretch.
Just to remind people/let people know..... The Blackbears and Wildcats game is 1pm ET on next Sat, not at 4pm. Originally USCHO mixed up the games and times, but it has since been fixed. So again, this is the early game on Sat. at Matthews.

Thanks Erin, figured Providence would get to pick similiar to the mens semi's and would take the early game to get more rest. Would imagine there will be a lot of UNH fans in attendence with the early game.

No problem Rob -- I was trying to figure out if I could do both (men's and women's games) or not..... so I looked into it. My boyfriend told me that he saw on Hockey East Online the earlier time.... sure enough that one was right.
I don't know how they select who plays when in the women's games.... you'd think they'd have the same format as the men's, being it's the same league and all..... maybe they do and PC picked the later game??? I really don't know.

big difference is the time of the games... it's different for the men who play later at night... that late game, starting around 8, could go real late, you don't get back to your hotel until 11 at the earliest, get some food and go to bed.... the earlier game (5) you're done around 7, hotel by 9 with food eaten earlier, in bed earlier.... for the women it's not as much of an issue.... the rest factor isn't that much of a factor

Current stats in the NWHL: 33-5-12-17-4
Shannon Clement "If you like watching ELITE hockey players, then make it point to watch Shannon Clement, a 5'10 defenseman with the Sault Ste Marie Midget AA Girls Hockey Team. This Prospects Alumni, who patrols the blue line, is a dominant defender with a cannon of a shot. An all 'round athlete, she has been playing hockey for 10 years. But it doesn't stop there. Once hockey season is finished, you can find her on the volleyball court, basketball court, running track (400 m), hitting a badminton bird, and participating in high jump/long jump competitions. A treat to watch, her size and skill definitely do not and should not go unnoticed. She will be competing for a roster spot with Team Ontario 's Under 18 team that will be competing in the Canada Winter Games in February. As well, US Colleges have been knocking on her doorstep, and if they are doing their jobs, they will be breaking down the doors to sign her."
Sadie Wright-Ward was the top forward in the Hockey Night in Boston summer tourney, a former Oyster River boys player.
Lindsay Caleo at Cushing is also where Laurie Brady ?? or something like that also plays. Brady was another HNIB MVP, and I haven't seen her name committed anywhere. {edit - she's a junior, someone to keep an eye on}
Busa was the goalie UNH faced when they played Assabet Valley earlier this year.

Just wanted to say congrats to the 'Cats on a teriffic season. They've been an exciting team to watch. Outstanding job by Coach McCloskey teaching this team how to play the game. The senior class will be missed. They lose three forwards (Fahlenbock, Butt, Kaip), two d-men (Stefanilo and Hickox) and more importantly two goalies (Huggon and Ensor).
Where do they go from here? They have a good core of forwards returning (Jones/Gordon/MacMaster/Bernhard/Davis/Hansen), and their two best d returning (Thomas and Edgar), but no goalie as of yet...
If they can get a solid goaltender next year, they should be a solid team, and contend with Providence again for the league title...
I'd be interested to see who they have coming in.. I heard a rumor over the weekend that they have a transfer coming in, I wonder if it is a result of the fallout at Northeastern and Coach Woog?
Hopefully their loss will be UNH's gain (?).
Anyways, just wanted to give kudos to the most enjoyable season as a fan since '99

from reading the mens forum i read that UNH is looking into making the olympic sized sheet at the whitt into NHL size. that would mean going from 200x100 to 200x85. the mens fans seem torn about it but i would have to say for the women that it would be a horrible idea.
the cats were 14-1-0 at home this year, and the ice surface had alot to do with it. the olympic sheet is a real advantage for the cats when other teams have to play there. since the 1999 season the cats have gone 64-18-4 at home, and that includes the down years since the nat'l title. they have been 44-30-8 on the road.

also, congrats to the cats for their 27 wins on the season! the second highest in program history. only the national champion team in 1998 had more wins.
another interesting stat i saw on the hockey east website was that the cats were undefeated at 23-0-1 when they scored first on their opponent. they were 4-7-1 when they did not.
wish they could have scored one first against providence

i would LOVE to see chanda gunn leave NU for UNH. what a find that would be to follow up huggon with gunn. i know it is unlikely but it would be cool.
