They are a darn good hockey team. They get GOOD junior A players and GREAT prep school players. They've beaten Dvision one teams and could be competitive at D1 right now. The only thing holding them back is title 9. When they are able to go D1, I have no doubt they'll be a top 10 program within three years.
The ACHA tournament is a slightly flawed method of selecting it's champion. Mostly because not all the leagues even have a chance of making the tournament. The ACHA tournament field is set before the ECHL finishes it's championships. So, unless an ECHL team is in the Top 12 before the ECHL tournament, they have no chance of making the ACHA tournament. (I don't want to get into a debate about the relative strength of the ECHL vs CSCHL or ECHA, I know that the ECHL is a somewhat weaker conference, I just think they should have a chance at the championship too.)

There is alot of ambiguity in ACHA tournament----D-1 club and D-2 club

I realize this. Syracuse is D1 Club and plays in the ECHL (which is the only reason that I care about ECHL hockey). The ECHL is a D1 league, but unless one of the teams is doing really well, then the ECHL will not have any representatives at the D1 tourney. (the other 2 D1 conferences have an autobid)

Varsity as D1 sanctioned.......here are the levels from bottom to top:
D3 club
D2 club
D1 club
D1 sanctioned
then of course there is D2, D3 sanctioned below D1
some schools have both sanctioned and club teams.

To be clear :
Are there any current club teams on your list that will become D1 Men's varsity programs .
Here is why I'm asking the question:
URI has just built a wonderful new rink that is better than at least 2 HE and ECAC schools and since may MAAC teams don't even have thier own rinks , URI would b a huge step up.
NAVY has it's own rink.
Ohio U. has it's own rink.
and the list goes on.
Any thoughts ?
Thanks:confused:

Delaware has two rinks.
Navy ain't going varsity anytime soon. The administration and athletic department have no interest in it. Former BC AD Chet Gladchuck wasn't brought in because he ran an athletic department with a hockey team. He was brought in to completely renovate and expand Navy's football stadium which is something that he oversaw at BC. Dahlgren Hall while it's an on-campus rink and a great rink for club hockey would be horrible for varsity hockey. It would be impossible for the rink to be renovated because it is a National Historic site. There is no more room at the academy or in Annapolis for a new rink and the parking lot at the football stadium is out because of the local residents and the academy's quest to keep as much space open for tailgating for fans (AKA: $$).
If Penn State can't go varsity after running off the string of championships they have then why should Navy with the mediocre at best success they've had the last few years?

Penn State and Illinois are close to D1 sanctioned. Of course there could be other schools but I don't know whom they are.
Any school that builds a rink ( that is the measurement...the rink) is going to move 1 or 2 levels up in their programs.

Baker rink at Princeton could be a Historical site and they are D1 sanctioned, but i also realize some of the factors you listed don't exist at Princeton.

Baker Rink also already has seats, a press box, and multiple lockerrooms all of which Dahlgren doesn't have. Baker Rink may very well be a national or state historical site however it is already an ice rink built to house nearly 3,000 spectators. Any improvements to the rink hasn't greatly affected the building's look or structure. Dahlgren Hall was originally built as an armory and later converted to an ice rink with wooden boards and without seats, diecent lockerrooms, a diecent physical plant, and zero insulation for the ice surface. There is no room to expand Dahlgren and any attempt to build bleacher seating in the south end or on the balcony is killed by the fire codes.

Any Idea with Penn St. Hasn't joined the CHA or MAAC with all the dollars and winning they have ? Also regarding NAVY , my only comment is at least they have a rink unlike many so called D1 schools inthe EAST.

is waiting on the women's program to grow to the same level as the mens.....according to Psu people the ladies are getting close so you have to satisfy title 9........the future could be a modification of the rule once they learn how much revenue schools are losing out on.
Psu is also looking for financial donations for rennovation of one of their athletic facilities
But to answer your question cyber media has all the responses on this topic coming from there coach not the ad, from what i have seen but i'm sure he has ahd some input
