regarding bush's speech last night ...

before he speaks, why can't someone say "please hold all applause until the end of the speech." why does congress have to stand up and clap after every sentence?

Last night was the first time in history that the President of the US Senate (aka the Vice-President of the US) wasn't seated behind the President (and next to the Speaker of the US House of Representatives) during an address to a joint session of Congress.

It was deemed too great of a security risk. :(

Considering that most terrorist groups are led by, supported and financed by affluent, well-educated males, I'm surprised she didn't call for a worldwide redistribution of wealth and a return to a matriarchal society. I'm sure she slept pretty well with the knowledge that no women were involved and that this is just another result of "white, middle-class male domination of oppressed peoples around the world."

Of course, if she had her way, men in society would be relegated to waiting around while women figured out where to put the sofa. Oh wait, that's what we do already. ;)

How about we put Ms. Cohen, Bill Maher and Jerry Fatwell on a panel on pay-per-view and then ship them off to Bin Laden?

Jenna, take care of yourself. :(

If men are so terrible, why are women trying so **** hard to be more like us? Has anyone else noticed the number of movies and TV shows in which women are physically beating the crap out big brawny men? What's that about?

I "banged-in" sick at work yesterday... you know... one of those mental health days, and I went to Harvard Square to eat at my favourite Indian restaurant... afterwards I stopped over at the kiosk and got a couple of papers... went over to Leavitt & Pierce for a stogey and planted my arse at Au Bon Pain... when I read the Crimson, I was livid... incensed... ******ed... not only is her article offense to men, SHE is the one drawing lines, making comparisons... comparisons referencing [questionable] data over 150 years old! In a time of unity, you can always count on the obscure minority group chiming up ... again, with an agenda... I am sure there will be a march on the Esplande this weekend... Men Are Bad, Men Are eveil, We Shall Unite!

I would expect an article like to come from a Yalie...

I usually shrug these things off... blaming it to youth and inexeperience but then I realized this 'woman' is a product of her own perpetual hatred for men, she is just carrying on an ignorant blame.

Hank, many people have their own agenda and will use anything, no matter how unrelated, to attempt to prove their point. I assume that this is an admired trait at Harvard. ;)

Honestly, when it comes to SICKENING liberalism, one can usually look at Yale... on the other end of the political agenda spectrum, Dartmouth for staunch right wing... in fact, I heard that in order to be a first year freshman at Big Green, you need not only your own personal computer but also a rifle, handgun or shotgun... no, only kidding... well, it is still New Hampshire. :D

the taliban says they won't hand over bin laden without evidence that he's guilty.

doesn't the united states have evidence that bin laden is guilty of some of his other attacks (i thought some of the lower level scumbags ratted him out)?

shouldn't that be enough? if they won't hand him over for past crimes, then why should we believe that they'll hand him over should we present the taliban with clear evidence for the recent crimes?

also, anyone else notice how the taliban refers to us as infidels? you'd think that in trying to convince us not to bomb the sh*t out of them, they'd use a little friendlier language. gotta love a despotic regime who starves their own people and live in ******** caves like the worthless p*ssies that they are calling us infidels.

"The Taliban leadership say they are able to convey information to bin Laden through radio communication with Taliban security personnel who travel with him."

the taliban is providing him with a security detail??? if that's not the taliban's way of saying "please bomb the sh*t out of our country" then i don't know what is.

The Taliban has made it clear whos side they are on...it is time to act!! Make a warning...tell those that do not support the Taliban and bin Laden to leave Kabul now because in 24 hours it will be nothing more than free parking!! Tell the Taliban every day for the next week we will bomb another city...cut off the border to Pakistan so they cant flee there. Tell Tajikistan that if it is believed they will flee there, they are in the same boat. Make it clear to the world that any...ANYONE who helps the enemy in any sort of direct manner shall, to quote GWB "Suffer the same fate".

Even if Afghanistan and the Taliban were not involved...this is a clear action to show that they are not with us, which means they are against us!! This is not a time to back out...now is the time to show our would be despatchers what is what!!

I wonder if Mz. Cohen is giving the mothers of the 19 terrorists a free pass, despite the fact that their 19 sons grew up to become killers of the innocent?

I am so sick and ***** tired of opportunists from both sides of the political spectrum using these tragedies as a way of furthering their own marginally useful agendas.
Whether its Marjorie Eagan's idiotic attempts to tie in the pro-life movement with Al Quadah (sic?), Ms. Cohen's dimwitted article blaming evil on masculinity, Marty Meehan's poorly timed attack on Dubya or... on the other side of the spectrum, Falwell's moronically innapropriate decision to blame everything on liberalism, I just find this all to be totally appalling.
I believe this is what the terrorists were hoping for.

I think that I am a fair and rational person... less the whole college hockey business :D Cohen's comments were reprehensible... I am bothered that she even considered to publish that article... I have no agenda against lesibian women, jewish women, militant tree hugging pasta eating women... but she created a stir and she created walls and barriers... she did the easy thing, she pointed out problems and offers no solutions, only "women do not do this" and that I find to be chicken$hit.

C'mon guys chill out, if men are to blame, aren't women ultimately to blame for having sons instead of daughters:);)

Speaking of sleazy, doesn't it seem like Boeing is milking this crisis for all it's worth? I can understand the airlines laying people off, they're only ever about 4 days away from insolvency anyway, but how did this affect Boeing so fast? This layoff wouldn't be their way of "persuading" the gov't to come through on a few defense contracts more quickly would it?
