This is from abcnews.com.

Authorities took 10 people into custody from New York City's two major airports after finding they had false identifications and knives, law enforcement officials told ABCNEWS.com.

Officials fear the two groups of people may have been set to mount a second wave of terror following Tuesday's attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The New York area's three major airports were shut down.

Between 4:15 and 5 p.m. ET, four men were detained trying to board a United Airlines flight to Los Angeles at John F. Kennedy International Airport, officials said. They had open tickets to various places in the United States, dated Sept. 11, the date of Tuesday's attack.

Officials also said they had multiple fake IDs, knives, and flight certificates from Flight Safety International in Vero Beach, Fla., one of the schools the suspected terrorists were allegedly trained.

Following the detention of the four men, a female was also detained for allegedly acting in a support role.

Hours later, at LaGuardia Airport, police detained five men who also had open flight tickets, knives, fake pilot licenses and identification. All 10 people are being questioned by authorities tonight.

wcvb.com reports "One witness, who had been aboard the flight preparing to depart JFK Airport for Los Angeles, told ABC News anchor Ted Koppel that as many as four men were removed from the jetliner by police and a SWAT team after brief resistance."

wcvb.com also reports "Three Northwest Airlines employees intentionally breached a security checkpoint at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix on Thursday as flights resumed following the East Coast terrorist attacks.

Two ground crew employees cleared the checkpoint with a pocketknife and a corkscrew while a pilot passed without proper identification, airport spokeswoman Suzanne Luber said. "Once they did that, they turned around and said, 'Hey, look what we did.'"

This could be related to why Northwest canceled flights.

This is beyond terrorist attacks...this is someone trying to destroy us plain and simple. If it is Bin Laden (and more and more evidence seems to show it was/is) then I hope his soul is ready cause there is no way we let this go with him living!!

I was on the edge at times today about what to do (while I wanted us to attack and destroy the ones responsible I also knew that wasnt right) now I am certain...THEY MUST BE STOPPED BY ANY MEANS!! One wave was bad enough, but having more apparent hijacking/suicide attacks (if that is what this is) shows that those responsible have no redeeming value on this planet and they must now depart. They have overused their right to live and now it is our right to show them we wont be destroyed. Justice can and will only be served when those responsible are laid to rest.

And if Afghanistan or anyone else stands in our way, then they too are the enemy!! We are at war, and that means we go all the way!! The free world must show that these cowardly acts wont be treated like normal crime, but as "Crimes Against Humanity" and have them treated like war criminals!! Then have them killed in the least humane way possible!!

**** them for making me think and say this, and **** them for killing the innocent, and **** them for killing the love and trust and security of this 21 year old boy!!

Sorry, but I have little regard for Nostradamus or any of you who think his "predictions" are the "truth." He's dead, and if you know what's going on in the world you know that "prophecy" can be twisted by any half-witted, twisted sack of *****.

This is war, get over it. Pick up your "balls" and prepare to defend your beliefs. It's time to count those who are willing to sacrifice to protect and defend this nation and its values. Quit your ******** hand-wringing and intellectualizing this massacre, you candy, assed ********.

I dare you to take me on.

My brother-in-law just deployed, I sent him my favorite Smith & Wesson .40 with a 2 1/2 lb trigger pull and Pachmeyer grips. It's a wonderful piece. If I could find it, I would have sent him my custom cut double-headed axe for hand-to-hand combat.

I've dropped my gloves and I'm tired of readiing your Chamberlian-esque bull*****. It's time to deal with a new form of warfare and shed gallons of blood of those who would destroy us.

Sorry, but I have no use for apologetic sacks of *****.

Most moving moment today: Watching the "Star Spangled-Banner" being played in front of Buckingham Palace. It's nice to know the Brits are still here. If we can get the Germans, French and Russians going, we have a chance to win.

I heard on WEEI that someone wrote an editorial to the Boston Globe that in effect stated that calling those responsible for what happened on Tuesday "terrorists" will do nothing but stigmatize these people. Unfortunately this is the mindset involved. These same people will probably call America's military reaction (overt and/or covert) terrorism also.

Friends, this news about arrests in the NYC airports is huge, IMO. I don't know if this will turn out to be true, but I heard there were two groups. The first tried to fly Tuesday morning (NY to LA) but their flight was delayed and then cancelled when all flights were cancelled shortly after the attacks occurred. They tried to catch the same flight Thursday when they were detained. The second group tried to fly Tuesday morning but was challenged by the gate agent and bolted. They also tried to fly Thursday and were detained.

Wow. I think three things:

1) There were at least six attempted attacks Tuesday, only three of which succeeded - Tower 1, Tower 2, Pentagon. Thwarted were Pennsylvania, NY airport 1 and NY airport 2.

2) I can't believe they tried again so soon with such heightened security. We may not be done being on the receiving end of this thing.

3) We now have some of the bad men in custody. This is huge. Question for the attorneys: Do non-citizens have legal rights in our country or can we interrogate them without lawyers and other concerns?

I want my old world back, but I fear that it's gone for good.

Also, sorry if this moves too far over into levity, but it's been on my mind. I like movies, and think in those terms sometimes. In the last few days, I've had some lines running repeatedly through my head:

Obviously Maximus: "father of a murdered son, husdand to a murdered wife, and I will have my revenge, in this life or the next."

But also, K,K,K,Ken about to steamroll Otto in A Fish Called Wanda: "Revenge!!"

And Bluto in Animal House, "Niedermayer? ... dead!, Bin Laden? ... dead!, Hussein? ... dead!"

I am not an attorney, but I do know that constitutional guarantees apply to everyone in this country or its possessions, regardless of whether said persons are citizens, nationals, resident aliens, legal aliens or illegal aliens.

If MN sweeps a weekend series the band has traditionally played the "Battle Hymm of the Republic" as the second game ends. Here is a link to the MN marching band page and this song. Always one of my favorites.

I have always been told that grief comes in several stages... though I am still sad and shocked, I am quite angry. WCVB TV5 reported that 40 Billion dollars has been approved and that Bush wil ask for 1 million reservists to be called up... at any time.

Try to think of it this way...in your/our "old world" this was always eventually going to happen. As in the '70's...we became complacent as Americans in terms of national pride to a degree until the hostage crisis, same thing with the late '80's and Desert Storm. Every time we suffer any sort of crisis in this country we get on our feet better than ever even if for only a few years. I believe this particular crisis will have much more profound effect on national pride and is an opportunity to make this country even greater. Heck of a sacrifice but we musn't look back...this is the way the deceased would want us to go forward.

God Bless America.

Well, after my post on the significance of the NY arrests, I now see a Reuters headline: "US official says no-one in custody in New York, situation resolved."

So I guess reports are getting easily sensationalized. I have no idea what's going on now.

ABCNews still claims ten were "detained," and now says that another four people were detained in Miami.

****... makes you wonder just how many more of these guys are out there...

I would not be mad if all sports and entertainment events were cancelled... we should not get back to work or life as normal... I do not want this to be an OJ Simpson media blitz... hot one day and forgotten the next... the media must play a true, ethical and moral role now... this is serious... and those others things must wait.

Henry.

Just a reminder about the candle light vigil emails going around. This from the Boston Globe:

Candlelight vigil
A national e-mail campaign is urging all US residents to go utside tonight at 10 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (7 p.m. Pacific Time) and hold lighted candles as a demonstration of national strength and unity.
