Craig, Relax little man youve got along way to go before you can tell the board who they can and cannot warn. If you stepon their toes you can expect to be reprimanded. Take it like a man and think before you leap the next time.

Guys -- today of all days I think getting your hand slapped for bad board behaviour is nothing. Let it go.
I think it's time for me to go to bed. I am very impressed with this community. Thank you all for your input -- it has allowed all of us to share our feelings and thoughts.
I'm not a religious man in a formal fashion, but god speed. None of us will EVER forget anything about today and the days to come. When I kiss my son good night before as he sleeps comfortably in his bed, I will think of all the children who will fall asleep tonight without the comfort of their mother or father and consider myself blessed that we have eachother.

I'm sitting in my dorm here in DC doing homework. Yet I feel like it is so pointless. I saw the hole in the Pentagon, the plane flew straight over my dorm, this city shut down.
I am not asking for pity, I deserve it less than anyone in this country, but I just don't get why this happened. I'm sitting here and I just can't figure this one out.
I apologize for my rambling, but it just hasn't sunk in.
My condolences to all those missing loved ones. And, Ritt, know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you're okay.

Castro has made his statements, he predicted more dark days ahead for the world. And his thoughts were with the innocent victims and their families. Lets hope this is all over though, and the only bloodshed will be those responsible for this. President Bush said in his adress that anyone who allowed this to happen, was responsible for this. I hope he means that. If no one claims responsibility, blame anyone that could have done it. If more than one group hints at responsibility, get em both. The Palestineians have lost any American support or sympathy they might have had just because of their celebrations. It is time to let Isreal off it's leash, if for no other reason than we now know what it feels like to be the subject of terrorism at this degree. I'm in the middle of no where right now, and I do not feel safe. But I am also mad as hell...

The NYC Police Commissioner just said that there were NO explosives. There was a vehicle with 2 men stopped, but NO explosives. He couldn't/wouldn't explain why the stop was made.

It's weird. The vast majority of you who are advocating war or retaliation are nowhere near here while those of us in NYC aren't ranting. Yes, I know I'm still in shock to a certain extent and I hope I stay in shock for a while. In a way, I'm scared to go to bed tonight.
My workplace (on the 48th floor) by the SI ferry has a clear view of the WTC. We were watching the first tower burn when I went to my desk to email someone to turn on her tv. I sat down and then the building shook with the second impact. (once I saw the tv footage I realized I saw the plane) A lot of us stayed at the windows and by the tvs for 5+ minutes before evacuating and then just milled around outside the building. I didn't leave for atleast 20 minutes. I was very lucky. I headed up Water Street and didn't have to see any of the bodies that those who were farther west did. Other than a 50 block bus ride in the middle of my commute, I ended up walking all the way home (Harlem).
It was just amazing how calm and polite the flood of people heading uptown were (yes, I know it was shock-induced), but everyone was making sure that everyone else was okay.
When I was looking for a new job last year I got an offer from Morgan at the same time as the offer I took. I am very thankful right now.
FYI, in the press conference a few minutes ago, they disclosed that a company of firemen were in 1 WTC for around 4-5 hours and when they made their way out they were in shock to discover that the building had collapsed around them. It gives some hope that there may be other pockets that just didn't have exits they could use. They recently rescued 2 PA police from by Trinity Church. According to the mayor (who I normally despise, but has done a very good job today), there have been communications from 2 people somewhere in the WTC complex via cell phone and those people have said that there are others alive with them. They are beginning to be able to get close to the buildings now. They won't try to assess the remaining WTC buildings (incl. #5) until daylight. According to the fire commissioner, over 300 firemen are unaccounted for - they aren't calling the families, because they don't know anything for sure (other than his higher up staff which was killed - some @#$% reporter actually asked him how he felt about that).
Please folks, pray for those that have died, their families, those in the hospitals and all of the courageous folks who are down there now as part of the rescue effort (and their families), thank God that you are okay and let your hate wait - it does no good for anyone. I'm very proud to live here right now. Brooklyn appears to have remained peaceful so those of you who aren't here should be able to as well.

Perhaps we should just "take it" like a bunch of candy-***** NancyBoys? Should we pay them to leave us alone? Should we invite them over for a nice ticker-tape parade in favor of peace and serenity down Fifth Avenue? What's your solution, or should we form a UN committee to study the issue ad nauseum?
Get real, these ******** are scum and should be rooted out and terminated accordingly, the same with their supporters, protectors and apologists. Rules, niceties and political correctness be ****ed to hell.

I said I had no answers. No one does.
You don't think I want to personally hunt down and strangle the you know what out of every last one of those fu**ers. Of course. But then what?
Well - here's what I envision ... you do that, and that just p*s*es off another group of them ... they hide in the hills, plotting the day they get *their* double-secret revenge by detonating a nuclear weapon in the U.S. - killing 20 million.
Don't think it could happen? Well, we didn't think this could happen either. And no amount of revenge or security can stop this from happening. THAT is truly scary.

Perhaps they will detonate a nuclear or chemical device, but if we do not act proactively to protect ourselves we invite the same. Nations harbor these ********, those nations should be dealt with accordingly. Personally, I'd rather address the issue before something like this happens again, rather than ruminating about it after the fact. Besides, eliminating entire groups of people has been a well-used policy tool throughout history, so targeting certain elements has precedence. I have no qualms about taking out entire nations, regions, etc. to further our security.

My disdain for terrorism was not spawned by this incident, this was just the straw that broke the camels back. My uncle is a right wing extremist in Israel so I have first hand knowledge of what goes on. Neither side is righteous, in fact both sides are wrong. Terrorism is a disgusting and cowardly act and I dont condone it...
That being said, I also feelit is time that America end its diplomacy. The Intelligence community knows who is behind many of the terrorist acts around the world and our government sits by andlets it go in thename of peace. This is an aggressive act in the face of peace, and now is the time for our country to show why we are the best. We have shown our restraint for too long, and the time has come for everyone to know that we are not creampuffs. I am not usually like this is as I said before...but this day must be avenged, and harsh words and sanctions will not do justice for the loss of life and mental anguish caused by the cowardly acts.
I dont believe in Heaven or Hell, but may those responsible, and those who condone what happened burn and be tortured the likes of which no one has ever seen!!

If it comes to that I'll get in line with everyone else but I think you should be in the first wave, you seem to need to fight NOW, settle down. I'm just as outraged and shocked but we need to investigate first and make sure we are targeting the right people. Making a grave error and going after the wrong people will only make us the target of more such attacks.

I thought that President Bush gave a great speech last night... and from listening to the news this morning, he'll make another speech soon.
WCVB TV5 (Boston) reported that the FBI found [at Logan Airport] a white sedan with Virginia license plates... a rental car... it contained a "tape on how to fly a commercial plan, Koran, and Islamic text"... also, the FBI determined it was five men who flew from Canada to Portland, Maine... then to Boston...
Logan Airport is now considered a crime scene... everything aroudn Eastie is shutdown and access is limited... TV5 interviewed the woman (girl - very young) who worked the ticket counter... she felt horrible... and appeared very sad, yet she said that nothing was out of the ordinary that morning. Logan is a very busy airport in the morning commute/redeye world...
Many in the press are now pointing fingers at Osama Bin Laden... if it is true he is responsible, as the Kroan says, "may God have mercy on your soul."
Anyone else hear from Jim Rittinger? HE was close to the action, and luckily not hurt...
Henry.

WEEI radio in Boston reports that rescuers are finding survivors in "voids" in the rubble. As many as 6 people have been found ALIVE. One firefighter stated he was on the 82nd floor and "rode" the collapsing building down to the ground. Let's hope for more miracles.

Melissa-
Thanks for posting the first-hand account. I can't imagine the feeling one must have when witnessing such horror. It is amazing to this mid-westerner how apparently calm New Yorkers remained during the height of the crisis.
I still cannot beleive the dedication of the NY Fire & Police depts. In fact, I'm continuelly amazed anytime there is a tragedy (or even a single house fire) how incredaby selfless this select group is. As a society and country, we are truely blessed to have them in our midst.

Last night around 7:15, I went outside to lock up for the night. The sun had set, the cloudless sky was painted shades of orange, yellow and blue. I looked out over Penobscot bay and the flat calm waters were also painted yellow, orange and blue. I walked out back to close up the chickens and 3 deer were in the pasture calmy eating. Norman Rockwell couldn't have painted a more beautiful picture. This scene is very common at my house and something I take for granted. It sucks that it takes some madman for me to realize how lucky I(we) am. Thousands of family, friends will struggle to get thru the next few days as a result of a group that doesn't share our value of family and friends. May these families and friends find the strength to cope.

I've got to say the 18th floor of this building will never feel safe again.
