Heh, who needs to learn the system? Comrie played just over 13 minutes tonight and scored two goals.
In four games he has three goals and two assists, all while seeing 4th line ice time.

Comrie's ice time should now increase, with Keith Primeau now out with injury.

Marty Turco gets the starting nod in net for the Western Conference All-Star Team. He received 79,000+ votes.
The rest of the team will be announced the 22nd. Last I saw, the only other former Wolverine with a shot of making the team is Brendan Morrison, who I believe was 4th among centers. Possibly Mike Knuble, too, though I don't remember where he was in the voting.

Comrie scored his fourth goal of the season last night against the Penguins in a 2-1 loss.

Of course, according to the Philly Inquirer, he also missed an open-net opportunity to tie the game:

I watched the game, and yes, that's true, although it was from a bad angle to the side of the net. Still, Comrie I thought was the best Flyer forward on the ice last night, he created numerous scoring chances, especially in the 3rd. Besides, everyone knows Philly fans hate their sports teams. ;)

Botts is Back!
Prior to this week, Jason Botterill had a total of three goals in his NHL career. But on Monday he scored a goal for the Sabres and last night he had a goal and an assist. Both points last night came as he was camped out in front of the net with a Flyer draped all over him. He looked good! Keep it up, Jason.

David Oliver played with the Stars last night and got his first NHL goal of the season (the game-winner) in last nights Dallas win.

Yeah, that was a fun game to watch with Turco, Sloan and Morrison also playing. Morrison scored one, too. Nice to see Ollie get one.

Another goal for David Oliver in Wednesday's Dallas victory over Ottawa. Now with 4-3-7 in 12 games with the Stars this season.

Another goal for Langfeld, too. Scored the game-winner last night for Ottawa. It's his fifth goal of the season.

Rumors are flying that Philadelphia is getting set to deal Mike Comrie to Phoenix for goalie Sean Burke. According to an article on Slam!, the hold up in the deal right now is what other players will be involved. It says a deal could be reached as early as today.

Comrie dealt to Phoenix for Burke, Radijovic, and the rights to Ben Eager.

Not sure when he got recalled, but Andy Hilbert is playing with the Bruins. Briefly saw him on the bench at the end of the Chicago game today. Surprising since he spent the first half of the year on the shelf with a groin injury.
So now Boston has Hilbert, Knuble, and Jillson on the roster (though Jillson has been a healthy scratch lately). Now only if Matt Herr would get a chance, but it seems like he's making a career out of being a top AHL player.

Hilbert and Knuble each had a goal in Boston's 5-2 victory over the Leafs tonight.

Have a feeling that the Habs may deal Komisarek. They need to win now, and don't seem to have confidence in him to play a regular shift. They are looking at guys like Jeff O'Neill from Carolina, and it would probably take someone like Komisarek to close the deal.
Probably the best thing that could happen to Mike, Montreal is a backwards organization and he is getting so "overcoached" there he can't take a step without thinking about all of the options and consequences. Last year they brought him up at the end of the year and let him play a little. He was fine, but they wouldn't stick with him. I think Komo would be better off in most other organizations. If a team lets him play, he will be great.

That's kind of what happened to Comrie in Philly. He got in Hitchcock's "dog house" and ended up 4th line center. Comrie said in one article I read that he pretty much couldn't play his game because if he did one thing wrong, he knew he was going to get benched. Playing with that fear in the back of your mind doesn't really allow you to play your best.
If Komo gets dealt, hopefully he'll go someplace where he gets to step in and play. He's way too talented not to get a chance.
On another note, Hilbert had another goal the other night against Philly.
And Cammalleri was recalled by LA about a week ago.

There is still room to debate Komisarek's decsision to turn pro early, I suppose. Although he has probably earned about $2 million in the past two years. I suppose that is the bottom line. Even if he only plays 10 minutes a game or sits in the press box, he is still earning NHL wages. In terms of time, if not games, Mike has played the equivalent of a full season in Montreal. So, I presume he has his full signing bonus, plus a full year's salary in the bank.
The problem with Montreal is the same one that was waiting for him when he went there. The Habs fans and management see him as a 240 pound crease clearer and enforcer to allow all of those stunted little Quebecois to play pond hockey all night long.
Mike sees himself as a complete player who is as skilled offensively as he is defensively. It isn't in his nature to be a goon. For his sake, I would like to see him move.
