Hey NMU fans, what's to become of Chad Theueur, what will he be doing next season, still playing hockey somewhere or not?

I ask Coach Kyle at a NMU alumni gathering last night and he was unaware if Chad was playing anywhere.

Chad Theuer has been in talks with a couple of different AHL teams (most notably-Norfolk & Springfield). He got a late start signing with teams because of a couple of different reasons.

1st being- NMU did a horrible job in getting him publicity.
2nd begin- somebody at NMU bad mouthed him to scouts/coaches about his work ethic and committment to hockey. Supposedly this information was passed on to his agent from the general manager of the Phoenix Coyotes.
3rd being- he finished his degree this summer after initialy there was no interest following the seasons completion. After this initial lack of interest he concentrated on finishing his degree. Which he did......


Chad has been offered a tryout with the Minnesota Wild but does not know if he'll go that route. Chances are he will sign directly into the AHL and thus he'd still be a free agent by NHL standards since he would be signing directly with an AHL team and not have his rights owned by an NHL team. I could be wrong with this, but for all intensive purposes he is close to signing and will be in Marquette skating during August in preparation of his professional career.

He signed with the Pensacola Ice Pilots of the ECHL today.

Well that's great for him. I'm sure the winter will be nicer playing in Pensacola, rather than Marquette

Did anyone notice Chads name on the cut list for the Minnesota Wild? He was a non-roster invitee for training camp. I'm asuming he'll now head to Pensacola for the Ice Pilots camp.
