  • Money talks . . .

The prime motive for the recent college hockey conference realignments and the current impasse between wealthy and struggling NHL franchises have the same cause - MONEY. The resolution of these similar but separate hockey organizational issues will determine the immediate future of both DI and professional hockey. Will these be leagues which foster competitive parity and expansion - like the NFL - or leagues of affluent "owners" and an extremely limited audience - like dressage?

I do not have much interest in horseback riding so I cannot comment on dressage, but
the only reason this website is up and that the owners allow the chatting is money...
is that a surprise... heck, the only reason seinfeld was on the air was to sell ads.
kinda makes me sad that Jerry and Elaine were not being funny just for me, or just for their art... but it was all about selling ads.

      I am glad I played.

                      Re: Money talks . . .

When the wealthiest participants in a sport unite and deny not-so-well-to-do participants the opportunity to compete on an equal level you end up with a botique sport like dressage. There seems to be an increasing gap between have and have-not leagues in college hockey.* This may well cripple the popularity and the expansion of the sport, just as the gap between have and have-not NHL franchises threaten to once again destroy a season.

*I'm far from alone in this opinion. Check previous posts on uscho.com - particularly after the announcement of the new DI hockey league.

If you want to whine about that, go to the D-III thread. In fact, a certain person from Middlebury College might REALLY like you.
